Bayne Ready to Get Back to the Track in 2016

CONCORD, N.C. (Feb. 3, 2016) – Trevor Bayne, driver of the No. 6 AdvoCare Ford Fusion for Roush Fenway Racing, heads into his second full-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) season focused and ready to grow on what was learned in 2015.

“I’m excited to get back behind the wheel,” said Bayne. “We learned a ton in 2015 and I feel like we are in a great position heading into 2016. Everyone at Roush Fenway has worked very hard this offseason and I think that with this new rules package, we are going to have a very good year with this AdvoCare team.”

For Bayne, who is on pace to make his 100th career NSCS start later this season, the offseason was one that saw the birth of his first child with wife Ashton – a daughter named Elizabeth. Along with the changes in the family life, Bayne will have some changes in his professional life as Matt Puccia has moved over from the No. 16 team to crew chief the AdvoCare Ford in 2016.

Puccia, who is entering his sixth year as a crew chief in the NSCS, spent the majority of the last five seasons as crew chief for Bayne’s Roush Fenway teammate Greg Biffle. During their time together, the duo recorded three victories and qualified for the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup three times in 2012, 2013 and 2014.

“Getting to work with Matt this year will be great,” added Bayne. “We’ve known each other for years and I feel like we will be able to communicate very well together. He has had a lot of success in the past and hopefully we can only continue that success this year.”

“I’m excited for what 2016 has in store,” said Puccia. “It will be great to work with Trevor this year and to work with the folks at AdvoCare. We made a lot of changes this offseason at Roush Fenway and I think that they all will greatly help once this season gets underway.”

The 2016 NSCS season kicks off with the 58th running of the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway on Sunday, Feb. 21, 2016. The Daytona 500 will forever be a special race for Bayne, who on Feb. 20, 2011, became the youngest race winner in the history of “The Great American Race,” earning the win at 20 years and one day old.
