PRACTICE RECAP – CHARLOTTE

NC Education Lottery 200

CHARLOTTE, NC – May 20th, 2011 – The No. 13 Safe Auto/Curb Records/Carrier.com Chevy, driven by Johnny Sauter, was second fastest all day at Charlotte Motor Speedway during the two NC Education Lottery 200 practice sessions.  The No. 88 Menards/Mullican by Great Lakes Chevy, driven by Series points leader Matt Crafton, was eighth fastest in first practice and 12th fastest in second practice.

“I was really tight center up out in first practice,” said Crafton. “Once it loaded up, we lost the nose and the front end slid quite a bit.  That’s Charlotte.  I told the guys that it always gets tight in three and four here as the day gets hotter, so let’s not overadjust.  Going into second practice, we were pretty strong.  I was happy with our mock qualifying lap and we’ll have it ready for qualifying this afternoon.”

“We started out loose as all heck in first practice but still really fast,” said Sauter. “We changed some springs and did some trackbar adjustments and there was still too much front grip. I know Joe thought a lot of the setup was looking good, but I wanted it to be tighter so we kept working.  In second practice, it was a little tight off but slid through three and four.  I’m still having to put more wheel in it that I’d like, but we’re looking okay for qualifying.”
