SMITHLEY TACKLES IOWA AGAIN

NEWTON, Iowa – Garrett Smithley is looking to improve on his 22nd-place finish earlier this year at Iowa Speedway when the Xfinity Series returns to the track for Saturday’s U.S. Cellular 250.

Saturday’s race will be Smithley’s second at the seven-eighths-mile track.

“I’m surprisingly looking forward to going back to Iowa,” Smithley said. “We did have a good finish when we raced there last month, but I didn’t feel like I was very fast. Danny Gill (crew chief) and the team have made some really good improvements to our short-track car, plus this is the first race of the season I get to race on a track we have already been to, so I’m looking for us to better our previous finish.”

Smithley sits 17th in Xfinity driver points entering the race.

Practice for the 250 is scheduled Friday at 5 p.m. (ET) and 7 p.m. Qualifying is set for 4:15 p.m. Saturday, with the race to follow at 8 p.m.
