Greg Biffle Michigan Notes and Quotes

Biffle on Michigan: “I love Michigan. It is my favorite track on the circuit and I’m really looking forward to going there. I like Michigan because I’ve had success there with wins in the Sprint Cup Series and the Truck Series. I also like that you can race three and four wide at a down force track. As a driver, you have so many options. You can run the bottom, middle or top. It is a strategy race and fuel mileage often comes into play – sometimes in your favor and sometimes not. I just like the way the track is laid out and I think you see good racing there.”

Puccia on Michigan: “Michigan is historically a great track for Roush Fenway Racing as a company. I got my first with there with Roush Fenway as Erik Darnell’s crew chief at Michigan in 2008. The track allows for a lot of good racing because it’s so wide. Pit strategy is crucial at Michigan as far as fuel mileage and the number of tires to take. We’ll have Pure Michigan on the car this weekend which is pretty cool because we have so many ties to the area through Ford and Roush Industries.”

Michigan Notes

Biffle is currently 13th in the Sprint Cup point standings following his 31st-place finish at Watkins Glen. He is 49 points out of the 10th position with four races remaining until the Chase.

Biffle’s average finish at Michigan is 12.4 from an average starting position of 14.6.

This weekend the No. 16 Ford will have a special Pure Michigan paint scheme to promote Michigan travel and tourism. For more information, fans can visit www.michigan.org/.

Last Time at MIS:

Greg Biffle took the lead today on lap 13 and was on track for a solid top-five finish throughout most of the race. He was running third when a round of green-flag pit stops began on lap 152. Crew chief Greg Erwin called him to the pits on lap 154 for four tires and fuel. An untimely caution came out four laps later before the cycle was complete and Biffle was the first car one lap down in the 18th position. Because he was the Lucky Dog, he got back on the lead lap but was only able to pick up three positions in the closing laps.
