Jason White’s Strong Run Spoiled By Caution

[media-credit name=”kansasspeedway.com” align=”alignright” width=”199″][/media-credit]KANSAS CITY, KS (April 23, 2012) – Racing can be a sport of momentum and unfortunately for Jason White he seems to be searching for it. After leading 29 laps in the early portion of the SFP 250 at Kansas Speedway, White and his No. 23 GunBroker.com Ford were victims of a poorly timed caution while they were on pit road.  The end result was the loss of a lap on the field and an unfortunate 19th place finish in the running of the 167-lap event.

White started the fourth race of the season from the fourth position – the best qualifying effort for the GunBroker.com team this season. When the green flag flew Jason steered his No. 23 GunBroker.com Ford to the lead by lap six.   As green flag pit stops welcomed the leaders around the midway part of the race, a caution flew while many of the trucks, including Jason, were on pit road.  After some confusion on the lineup it was determined that the No. 23 GunBroker.com Ford had lost a lap to the field.  Unable to recover, White and his Roush Yates powered Ford would have to settle for a disappointing 19th place finish.

“Wow, for the second week in a row we have had some ill-timed cautions that have been very costly for us,” stated Jason White. “Our GunBroker.com Ford was strong early on when we got out there in the lead.  The clean air was so important and when we got back in the field we were aero tight and struggled a little with that.  But we had a top-10 truck today for sure and that caution was just so costly.  I am not sure I understand why we didn’t get the wave around like many of the others.”

Jason sits in the ninth spot in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series drivers’ standings – now 43 points out of the lead.

“While I am disappointed in our finishes the last two weeks, it is encouraging that we are putting a fast GunBroker.com Ford out on the track every time out,” added Jason.  “I hope we are getting these bad breaks out of the way now and I believe we will win a pole and race at some point this season.”

Jason will next participate in the Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown on Thursday night at Richmond International Raceway. The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will return to action on May 18th for the running of the NC Education Lottery 200 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
