[media-credit name=”martinsvillespeedway.com” align=”alignright” width=”300″][/media-credit]MARTINSVILLE, Va. (May 1, 2012) – In an attempt to help streamline its presence on Twitter, Martinsville Speedway has adopted a new handle for the social media platform.  Beginning immediately Martinsville Speedway’s Twitter handle is @MartinsvilleSwy, moving away from @ms1947.

The name change does not affect anyone already following Martinsville Speedway on Twitter as the new handle is automatically swapped out for the old.

The change was made to help highlight the track’s name, and to make the handle more discernable in timelines and easier for users to type.

Racing returns to Martinsville Speedway on October 21 with the Virginia is for Racing Lovers 300 NASCAR Late Model Stock Car race.

The TUMS Fast Relief 500 weekend is scheduled for October 26-28, with the TUMS Fast Relief 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup race on October 28, the Kroger 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race on October 27 and NASCAR Cup and Truck Practice on October 26.
