Tommy Baldwin Racing NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Advance: Watkins Glen International

Race: Finger Lakes 355 at the Glen

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series: 22 of 36

Track: Watkins Glen International

Track Length: 2.45 mile

Tommy Baldwin Racing (TBR) hits the twists and turns of Watkins Glen International this weekend. Dave Blaney will pilot the No. 36 TBR Chevrolet in the Finger Lakes 355 at the Glen, the second road course race of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) season.

TBR AT WATKINS GLEN INTERNATIONAL – This weekend will mark TBR’s third start at Watkins Glen International and the team’s fifth start at a road course. Ron Fellows drove the No. 36 at the 2.45-mile road course the past two seasons. In 2011, he started 21st and drove up to 15th before an on-track incident broke the suspension and relegated the team to a 40th-place finish. Last season, he started 35th and an on-track incident ended his day early once again. He finished 30th.

BLANEY AT WATKINS GLEN INTERNATIONAL – Blaney made 10 starts at the 11-turn road course. He tallied his best start of 16th in 2003 and drove to a best finish of 18th in 2002.

OUTSOURCING ASSOCIATE – This weekend will mark the 11th partnership of TBR and TMone. TMone is a provider of domestic business services and customer relationship management (CRM) outsourcing. With locations in the Midwest and Northern Great Plains, TMone delivers new jobs to America’s hometowns. Call center outsourcing is a people business, and TMone is in the business of augmenting and supplementing other companies human capital needs.

CHASSIS NO. 101 – Blaney will pilot chassis No. 101 this weekend. The chassis was built in-house at TBR and made its debut at Auto Club Speedway. The chassis was converted to a road course car following a start at Texas Motor Speedway this season. Blaney drove the chassis at Sonoma where his day ended early because of a fuel problem and broken trackbar.

IN THE POINTS – The No. 36 Chevrolet is 35th in NSCS Owner Points. The team is locked into the top-35 by 92 points and trails the No. 32 by 19 points. Blaney is 34th in NSCS Driver Points. He leads David Stremme by 121 points and trails teammate David Reutimann by seven points.

Dave Blaney Quotes: ON RACING THIS WEEKEND – “I really enjoy road course racing. Although Sonoma and Watkins Glen are both road courses, they are very different. Watkins Glen is a higher speed track with a lot of hard braking which makes it a bit more challenging. It is the opposite approach of a track like Sonoma. I love the challenge that road courses bring and am excited to see what we can do this weekend. I’m also looking forward to getting back into a car after taking last weekend of to see Ryan race at Iowa.”

About Tommy Baldwin Racing:

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) Crew Chief Tommy Baldwin formed Tommy Baldwin Racing (TBR) in 2009. Baldwin utilized a declining economy to open a NSCS team with a stringent budget. The team worked to build to full-time competition, and by the 2011 season, the team’s third season, TBR competed in every race and locked the No. 36 Chevrolet in the top-35 in NSCS Owner Points. Dave Blaney drove the No. 36 Chevrolet to TBR’s highest finish of third in the October 2011 event at Talladega Superspeedway. TBR also fielded a second car for select races in the past two seasons with multiple drivers.

Based in Mooresville, N.C., TBR will compete in the NSCS in 2012 with NASCAR veterans David Reutimann and Dave Blaney. The team will also compete in the NASCAR Nationwide Series with Ryan Blaney, Bobby Santos and Ryan Truex.
