Daughter of Mike Wallace to make third NNS start, second as his teammate
GAFFNEY, S.C. (October 12, 2012) – For the second time, Chrissy Wallace will team up with her father, Mike, in a NASCAR Nationwide Series race when the green flag falls over Kansas Speedway on Saturday, October 20.
The younger Wallace will drive a No. 4 Chevrolet for JD Motorsports w/Gary Keller at the 1.5-mile oval with associate sponsorship from JEGS; the team is still seeking a primary partner for the race. This will be her third NNS start and 10th overall NASCAR start as she’s raced in seven NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series events, as well.
In 2010, Chrissy was a teammate to Mike at Talladega Superspeedway where she started 18th and finished 24th. Since then, she’s kept herself busy in Late Model competition.
She was the 2011 ASA Late Model West Series champion and Late Model divisional champion at Lebanon I-44 (Missouri) Speedway. Right up until the last weekend of competition, she slugged it out for the ASA Overall National championship having to settle for second by a close margin.
This season, she’s raced in two Super Late Model events to keep her racing skills honed up for an occasion like the one at Kansas next weekend.
“I can’t thank Johnny Davis enough for this opportunity,” Wallace said. “I’d also like th thank John Coughlin from JEGS for jumping on board to help. When I was running the Truck Series races, everyone said ‘Go show us you can win races.’ So, I went to I-44 Speedway and won races. I also won the track and regional championship.
“It’s tough to race, then stop racing when you know you can get the job done. To compete in another Nationwide race is a great opportunity for me in a lot of ways.
“We’re trying to find some more sponsorship to help Johnny (Davis, owner) with this deal. I know I can race, I know I can be a good spokesperson and the Kansas race will be a great one for our family.
“And, I get to race with my dad again, too. I’d say I’m a pretty lucky race car driver.”
