MATT KENSETH, No. 17 Ford EcoBoost Fusion (Finished 4th) – YOU REALLY BATTLED BACK, HOW DID YOU DO IT? “It was Jimmy and those guys that made some really good decisions for adjustments and pit stops and we had some fairly decent restarts and got back in it. I didn’t think we would ever be standing here with a top-five the way our day started. We started way off and these guys never gave up. They battled hard all day long and got me a good finish.”
GREG BIFFLE, No. 16 3M Ford Fusion (Finished 10th) – “It was a pretty good night. I don’t know if I got behind on my adjustments or what. I didn’t quite have my car how I needed it. I was pretty good there at the end but it was kind of a weird deal. I would tighten it up and it would drive better for a little bit but then it would be looser later on. It was kind of hard to tell.” HOW MUCH DID THE TRACK CHANGE WHEN THE SUN WENT DOWN? “It just gained more grip and got faster really. That is about all. It was an okay night you know. It could have been better. We had a lot better car than that.”
TREVOR BAYNE, No. 21 Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Fusion (Finished 22nd) – “Well, that wasn’t good. We qualified really well and I thought that was setting us up for a really good night. The first run we were able to maintain in the top-12 and I thought if we could just get it to turn a little bit we would be alright. We were never able to find balance in the car all night long. We would either get it sideways loose or chattering the right front tight. We weren’t able to get the speed out of it to be able to roll through the center. Like I said, the first run I was pumped. We lost a couple spots but we were top-12 times and once the track started changing we weren’t able to keep up with it like we needed to.”
CARL EDWARDS, No. 99 Aflac Ford Fusion (Finished 16th) – “That wasn’t very much fun. We struggled a lot. I screwed up on pit road and ran over Mike Lingerfelt and he jumped right back up and made a good stop. It was a very tough night. We struggled a lot with being loose off. I thought we would be better. Then we had a big tire rub at the end. That is what you get. I ran right into Mark (Martin) and didn’t give him enough room and tore up our car. It was a frustrating night.”
CASEY MEARS, No. 13 GEICO Ford Fusion (Finished 21st) – “It was a long night for us. We started off really tight and then the track came to us and we started picking up and running pretty fast and we were happy with the speed we had in the car tonight. On that restart a bunch of guys got jammed up and it messed up the left rear. For whatever reason from then on I couldn’t get in the corner. It is unfortunate. We ended up with a decent finish all in all but I think we could have had a really good night if that hadn’t happened.”
