Koch Ready for Friday Night Excitement

Hopes Phoenix Finish is a Sign of Things to Come

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (April 23, 2013) – After a week off from Nationwide Series competition, Blake Koch is ready to go racing. He’s pumped to get behind the wheel of his No. 24 Toyota and test his skills at Richmond International Raceway. Known as the “Action Track,” the .75-mile oval has characteristics of a short track and a superspeedway. Koch loves the combination and looks forward to seeing the sparks fly in Friday night’s ToyotaCare 250.

Koch has four Nationwide Series starts at Richmond. His best finish is 27th place, which he scored in both 2011 events.

Koch discusses racing at Richmond:

“Richmond is definitely a popular track among the drivers. I think everyone likes it so much because it has the excitement of a short track. There’s lots of side-by-side action, really tight racing. At the same time, it’s a wide track. There are a few good grooves, so you can search and find the line that works best for your car. It’s really the best of both worlds. You get the speed and multiple grooves of a big track, and you get the close, bumper-to-bumper action of a short track. It’s no wonder that the fans and drivers love going there.

“There aren’t many tracks like Richmond. It’s a really unique place. I think one of the best comparisons is Phoenix. That’s good news for us because one of best performances was at Phoenix. Hopefully we’ll get a similar result this weekend.

“After a week off, it’s always nice to go racing. It was a relaxing break, but I’m looking forward to hitting the track again. We’ve put a lot of focus on our short track program and I know it’s a venue that we can shine at.”
