NASCAR Sprint Cup Series | FedEx 400 benefiting Autism Speaks
Race 13 of 36 | Dover International Speedway | Sunday, June 2, 2013
HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (June 3, 2013) – David Reutimann and the No. 83 Burger King / Dr. Pepper Toyota team finished 26th on Sunday afternoon at Dover (Del.) International Speedway. Reutimann was able to tame the beast known as “The Monster Mile” to bring home another solid finish.
Reutimann and his BK Racing team worked through a variety of setup options and adjustments to prepare their No. 83 Burger King / Dr. Pepper Toyota Camry for 400 miles at Dover International Speedway during three practice sessions on Friday and Saturday. During time trials, the driver was able to pick up two-tenths of a second from his fastest practice lap to secure the 27th starting position for the FedEx 400 benefiting Autism Speaks.
Rolling off mid-pack for the race, Reutimann called into his crew early to report that his car was too loose around the concrete one-mile oval. The team utilized each pit stop to adjust the balance of their car, and carefully avoided the on-track incidents and mechanical failures that plagued the competition. By the time the checkered flag waved, the No. 83 Burger King / Dr. Pepper Toyota Camry was the strongest it had been all day allowing Reutimann to cross the finish line in the 26th position.
“My BK Racing team did a great job today adjusting our No. 83 Burger King / Dr. Pepper Toyota Camry,” commented Reutimann. “Our car was a little too free at the start of the race, but they kept making minor adjustments throughout the race, and we kept getting better and better. The race had a pretty fast pace, so I’m happy with how quickly they were able to make the adjustments to get our car better without losing too much ground or putting us in a hole. I’m looking forward to getting to Pocono Raceway next week-it’s a track unlike any other that we race at, and I think it will be a lot of fun.”
