Taco Bell Team Tested at Flat Oval Known for One-Groove Racing
STATESVILLE, SEPTEMBER 16, 2014 – David Ragan, driver of the No. 34 Taco Bell Ford, comments on racing at New Hampshire Motor Speedway:
“We tested at Loudon a couple weeks ago to try to get a little better on our flat, one-mile track program. If we can improve our race cars for Loudon, it could also pay some dividends at Phoenix and even Richmond and Martinsville next year.
“Loudon’s a tough little racetrack. It’s very narrow and very much one groove. At a lot of racetracks, if you’re off a little bit, you can move around and you’ve got some banking to help. But when you’ve got little to no banking and one distinctive groove, you can’t run and hide. You’ve got to fight with what you’ve got. And that’s why sometimes at Loudon you see one dominant car that’s handling really well that can just run away with it.”
JUST THE FACTS: Ragan has 15 Sprint Cup career starts at New Hampshire Motor Speedway … He has one top-10 and three top-15 finishes at the 1.058-mile oval … His best finish at Loudon is seventh (2011).
