Brian Scott Earns 18th Top-10 Finish in 2014 at Dover International Speedway
Brian Scott and the No. 2 Shore Lodge Chevrolet Camaro collected their 25th top-10 qualifying position of the season at Dover International Speedway starting in the seventh position in the Dover 200. Scott initially reported a loose-handling Camaro and would come in for two tires and adjustments on the visit to pit road during the lap-39 caution. The two-tire stop marked Scott as the race leader and would take them to green on lap 45. A tight-handling exit of the corners early in the green-flag run took Scott to the second position before the caution flew on lap 98. Scott would get shuffled to the sixth position on the lap 103 restart and settle in that position until the 147 caution. The Phil Gould-led team took two tires on the final visit to pit road, gaining one position restarting fifth. With 17 laps to go, Scott moved into the seventh position and would cross the finish line there, earning the team’s 18th top-10 finish of the season.

BRIAN SCOTT QUOTE:
“My guys hustled all day long on this No. 2 Shore Lodge Chevrolet. I was hanging on for dear life there at the end. It was the right call to take two tires at the end there. I’m proud of our effort today.”
Ty Dillon Finishes 10th at Dover International Speedway
Ty Dillon drove Richard Childress Racing’s No. 3 Yuengling Light Lager Chevrolet Camaro to a 10th-place finish Saturday afternoon, recording the team’s 21st top-10 finish of the season. Earlier in the afternoon, Dillon qualified third despite battling a loose-handling Camaro in the first of two qualifying sessions. When the green-flag waved, Dillon remained inside the top 10 but reported his car lacked the balance he needed to get through the corners. On the team’s first pit stop on lap 41 crew chief Danny Stockman called for four tires, fuel and an air pressure adjustments to help loosen the handling conditions. Dillon restarted seventh and for the next 50 laps remained inside the top 10. With his car improving on the longer green-flag stretch, Dillon still needed an adjustment to loosen up the No. 3 Camaro. Stockman continued to work on the car’s balance on the team’s pit stop on lap 99 and lap 150. In the final laps of the race Dillon was running in the 11th position, made a quality pass and crossed the finish line 10th; his 21st top-10 finish of the season. Dillon remains third in the Nationwide Series driver point standings.
Start – 3rd Finish – 10th Laps Led – 0 Points – 3rd
TY DILLON QUOTE:
“I’m disappointed in our performance today. We were battling a tight car all afternoon and seemed to be just a couple of steps behind it. We’re not going to give up until the final lap at Homestead, but we’re just going to have to work a little bit harder.”
Cale Conley Earns an 11th-Place Finish at The Monster Mile
Cale Conley brought home the IAVA Chevrolet Camaro to an 11th-place finish at Dover International Speedway Saturday afternoon, after fighting a tight-handling condition throughout the 200-lap event. The West Virginia-native started the race from the ninth position and proved to be a mainstay inside the top-10 for the first half of the race, climbing as high as sixth. Throughout the lengthy green-flag run Conley reported to crew chief Nick Harrison he was fighting a tight handling race car. The caution-flag flew on lap 96 which allowed the 22-year-old Richard Childress Racing driver to come to pit road for four-fresh tires, fuel and a chassis adjustment. Green-flag racing resumed on lap 103 with Conley seventh in the running order. The afternoon’s final caution allowed the No. 33 team to help alleviate the continued tight condition on pit road with another chassis adjustment. Conley restarted 12th on lap 153 and fought hard with Series regulars to bring the No. 33 Chevrolet home in the 11th position.

CALE CONLEY QUOTE:
“It was a hard fought finish today. We were just tight throughout most of the race, but we battled hard and were so close to getting our second top-10 finish. It was great to be in the car two weeks in a row and to keep the week-to-week rhythm. Charlotte can’t come soon enough; I can’t wait to get back on the 1.5-mile tracks.”
Brendan Gaughan Finishes 28th at Dover International Speedway
Brendan Gaughan and the No. 62 South Point Hotel & Casino Chevrolet Camaro qualified 12th for Saturday afternoon’s Dover 200 at Dover International Speedway. The Richard Childress Racing teams day experienced trouble early when issues with the right front suspension sent the team to the garage on lap 11. The Shane Wilson-led team was able to repair the South Point Hotel & Casino Camaro and return to the track eight laps down. The Las Vegas-native fought for the remainder of the day to make up as much ground as possible and crossed the finish line in the 28th position. Brendan Gaughan and the No. 62 team remain eighth in the driver point standings as the Nationwide Series heads to Kansas Speedway.
Start – 12th Finish – 28th Laps Led – 0 Points – 8th
BRENDAN GAUGHAN QUOTE:
“This was a disappointing day for this 62 South Point team. My guys did a great job with repairs at the beginning of the race and getting me back out on track after we had an issue with the left front suspension. These things happen, it is just part of racing.”
