Last Race of the Season…Justin Allgaier will make his first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) start at Homestead-Miami Speedway (HMS) on Sunday afternoon. HMS is the only remaining track in the NSCS that Allgaier hasn’t made a start at in the No. 51 BRANDT Chevy. He does have six starts in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) at the season-ending 1.5-mile track.
BRANDT International Paint Scheme…The No. 51 BRANDT Professional Agriculture Chevy will be sporting a different look this weekend at HMS. A bright yellow world map has been placed on the traditional BRANDT red to bring attention to their international business. BRANDT products are increasing yield and production quality in agriculture markets around the globe. Currently, BRANDT products can be found in over 40 countries supported by their international business managers.
Phoenix II Recap…Justin Allgaier made his third-career NSCS start at Phoenix International Raceway (PIR) on Sunday in front of a sold out crowd. Allgaier and the BRANDT Professional Agriculture team completed three practice sessions during the weekend and earned the 27th starting position for the Quicken Loans Race for Heroes 500. After contact with another competitor on pit road early in the race, he drove the No. 51 BRANDT Chevy home to a 37th-place finish for HScott Motorsports.
Sunoco Rookie of the Year…After graduating to the NSCS this season, Allgaier is competing for Sunoco Rookie of the Year honors in the No. 51 BRANDT Chevy. In 2009, Allgaier took home the Rookie of the Year title in the NNS. After Phoenix, Allgaier is currently third in the standings, behind Kyle Larson and Austin Dillon.
Justin Allgaier on Homestead-Miami Speedway:
“This will be my first time in the Sprint Cup car at Homestead [Miami Speedway], so I’m curious to see how it goes. Homestead hasn’t been one of my better tracks in the Nationwide Series, but I’m going there with an open mind and we will see what happens. It’s a big weekend for everyone at BRANDT with the international paint scheme. They have a lot of guests coming in from around the world, and I really want to have a good finish for them and going into the off season.”
Crew Chief Steve Addington on Homestead-Miami Speedway:
“Homestead [Miami Speedway] is the last race of the season and we really want to go into the winter with a good finish. We’ve found some stuff that Justin [Allgaier] really likes, so we will try that this weekend and see how it goes.”
About Competition Director and Crew Chief Steve Addington:
Spartanburg, S.C. native Steve Addington joined HScott Motorsports in January 2014 as competition director and crew chief for the No. 51 BRANDT Chevrolet SS. Steve comes to the team from Stewart-Haas Racing, where he spent the past two seasons as crew chief on the No. 14 team and earned four wins with Tony Stewart. Addington also served as a Sprint Cup Series crew chief at Team Penske and Joe Gibbs Racing, racking up a total of 20 wins in the series. Addington began his career working on dirt cars and is a former Nationwide Series crew chief. Addington resides in China Grove, N.C. with his wife Katie and has three children.
