City of Lights…The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) heads west for the first time this season. Justin Allgaier will compete for the second time in his NSCS career this weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway (LVMS). LVMS is the second mile-and-a-half race this season for the NSCS. Allgaier looks to improve on last year’s 31st-place finish in the No. 51 BRANDT Professional Agriculture Chevy. He also has five starts in the NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) at LVMS, with one top-five and four top-10 finishes, along with five laps led.
See Justin…On Sunday, March 8 from 9:30 – 9:45 a.m. PST, Allgaier will appear for a Q&A at the LVMS Clubhouse 2 Fan Suite.
Atlanta Race Recap…Allgaier made his second NSCS start at Atlanta Motor Speedway last Sunday. A change in the Series schedule moved the race from a usually very warm Labor Day weekend, to a very cold March date at the 1.54-mile track located in the Atlanta suburbs. Allgaier qualified the No. 51 BRANDT Chevy 16th for the Folds of Honor 500. After a short delay due to rain, Allgaier completed the day with a 20th-place finish in the No. 51 BRANDT Professional Agriculture Chevrolet for HScott Motorsports.
Justin Allgaier on Las Vegas Motor Speedway:
“Las Vegas [Motor Speedway] is a fun track to race at because it has multiple grooves and is extremely fast. It’s not the smoothest track we go to, but it does have a lot of grip so you can carry a lot of speed through the corners. You have to put a lot of emphasis on car control to make sure the car stays underneath of you at all times because of the high speeds. Passing there is a challenge because of the high speeds, but if you can get the car really dialed in, that gives you the ability to move around. Typically, Las Vegas comes down to a fuel mileage race. Luckily, I’m not the guy who has to calculate all of that information. I leave all of that up to my crew chief, Steve Addington and the engineers. There’s a little bit that I can do inside the car to help us out with fuel mileage, but ultimately the call if we have enough fuel to make it to the end comes from the pit box.”
Crew Chief Steve Addington on Las Vegas Motor Speedway:
“Justin improved a lot at last weekend’s mile-and-a-half track, and this weekend will be his second time at Las Vegas [Motor Speedway] in the Sprint Cup Series. We learned a lot at the test last week, so we will really be able to build on that this weekend. We just need to carry the momentum from last weekend to this weekend. Justin’s confidence is up and that does a lot for not only him, but also everybody at HScott Motorsports.”
