VFW Foundation, NSK Corporation present unique online contest for military fathers

BROOKLYN, Mich. (April 26, 2011) – Across the country, millions of fathers are honored each June with cookouts, cards and family time. Yet there are thousands of families whose patriarch is currently stationed overseas and a growing population of veterans who have sacrificed time with their families in order to serve our country.

To celebrate these military fathers and their families, the VFW Foundation and NSK Corporation have joined forces to honor military fathers this Father’s Day at Michigan International Speedway® through a unique online contest.

Military fathers and their friends and family may visit www.MISpeedway.com/militaryfathersto share their stories of dedication and commitment to our country. Together, the VFW Foundation and NSK Corporation will select 50 grand prize winners who will each receive a Salute to Military Fathers ticket package to the June 19 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Heluva Good!® Sour Cream Dips 400 at MIS.   The contest will conclude on June 1, 2011 with winners being announced June 2. All winners will be posted at www.MISpeedway.com/militaryfathers.

Winners will include military fathers and their families along with active-duty and retired military personnel and their fathers. The program serves to honor recipients for their service and sacrifice to our country.

“We appreciate everything our military fathers have done for this country and it’s great when we have partners like the VFW Foundation and NSK Corporation who want to do something more for them,” MIS President Roger Curtis said. “This contest allows military fathers to tell their stories about the perseverance and sacrifice they have made for their country, which also affects their wives and children. We look forward to hosting the winners here at MIS on Father’s Day!”

Along with the 50 grand prize winners and their guest, the VFW Foundation and NSK will host over 300 total guests as part of the Salute to Military Fathers program at MIS. Guests will enjoy complimentary pre-race hospitality, pit tours, celebrity appearances, pre-race ceremonies and grandstand tickets to the Heluva Good!® Sour Cream Dips 400.

To show their appreciation to military families, Miss Sprint Cup, David Ragan, driver of the No. 6 UPS Ford Fusion for Roush Fenway Racing, and NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee and veteran Bud Moore are all scheduled to visit the Salute to Military Fathers hospitality tent.

The VFW Foundation returns for its third year as a proud supporter of the program at MIS. Salute to Military Fathers is an extension of the organization’s Return the Favor campaign, an awareness and fundraising campaign to honor, celebrate and support active-duty military members, veterans, and their families.
