Return of the Peacock: When NASCAR heads back to the World Center of Racing this weekend at Daytona International Speedway, NBC Sports’ landmark coverage of NASCAR racing will begin anew. The media franchise is set to show its first races since 2006, beginning with Saturday’s XFINITY Series Subway Firecracker 250 (7:30 p.m. ET, NBCSN), followed by Sunday’s Coke Zero 400 powered by Coca-Cola Sprint Cup Series event (7:45 p.m. ET, NBC). The events wave the green flag over NBC Sports Group’s 10-year chapter as the home of NASCAR’s championship run, and NBC Sports’ production team in Daytona will employ a crew of more than 195 personnel, 70 cameras, 80 microphones, 150,000 feet of cable and a wide collection of other tools to deliver the action.

Jamie McMurray and No. 1 McDonald’s Team

Sonoma Recap: In the first of two road course races on the 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) season, Jamie McMurray looked to continue his streak of three straight top-10 finishes. McMurray, driving the Cessna Patriotic Chevrolet SS, overcame an early tire issue to narrowly miss the top-10 with an 11th-place finish in the Toyota/SaveMart 350.

McMurray at Daytona: McMurray, a two-time winner in NSCS competition at DIS, has made 25 career starts at the 2.5 mile high-banked tri-oval. He has five top-10 and three top-five finishes at the famed “World Center of Racing”, as well as two wins,(2007 Coke Zero 400 and the 2010 Daytona 500). McMurray has completed 4,036 of a possible 4,381 (92.1%) laps of completion.  His best start was sixth (2006) and best finish of first-place twice.

Daytona Rising: This weekend’s event at DIS will be the final race before the completion of the $400 million Daytona Rising project that will revitalize the fan experience at Daytona International Speedway. Jamie McMurray will tour the construction project during the CokeZero 400 race weekend and record some video vignettes to promote Daytona Speedweeks 2016. McMurray’s success at DIS is umatched as he is the only driver to ever win the three biggest races at the “World Center of Racing”, the Rolex 24 at Daytona, Daytona 500 and the CokeZero 400.

Kyle Larson and No. 42 Share a Coke Team

Sonoma Recap: The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) was at Sonoma Raceway this past weekend for the first of the season’s two road courses races. Although the weekend started a bit slow for Larson in the No. 42 Viva Vantage Chevrolet, the team was able to make significant gains on the car for qualifying, where Larson earned a spot just inside the top-five. After starting the race looking strong, Larson would ultimately experience handling issues towards the end that would result in a 15th place finish at the Northern California road course.
