ADVANCE NOTES

Biffle’s thoughts on the new rules package for Kentucky:

“I think it’s a bold move for NASCAR and it’s a statement saying we are listening to the drivers. They’re listening to what we think will create good competition, passing and kind of getting the cars sliding around a bit.  Certainly I don’t know what to expect, but I think it will be fun and interesting; everyone should tune in and see what kind of racing it is.  At the same time it’s an opportunity for Goodyear to get on board as well.

“The problem is we can’t do all this at one time.  It’s a culmination of the teams, NASCAR taking downforce off, Goodyear bringing a tire back and maybe getting back to racing like we had in ‘05, ‘06, ’07 and ‘08.  Where you’ve got to come in and put tires on these things.  We’re sliding around a little bit, were passing, we’re beating on each other, pushing and shoving on mile-and-half’s a little bit, or these mile tracks.  I’m interested to see how it turns out.”

Biffle at Kentucky

Biffle has competed in all four Sprint Cup races at Kentucky.  His best finish of those four starts was 14th last year.

Biffle fell just short of a winning in the XFINITY Series at Kentucky, finishing second three times: ’01, ’02 and ’04.

In his six XFINITY starts at Kentucky, Biffle has earned three top-five and five top-10 finishes.

Biffle won in 2000 in his only Truck Series start at Kentucky, leading 53 laps en route to the victory.

One Year Ago at Kentucky

Biffle started the 267-lap event 24th and worked hard on handling throughout the race. In the final laps, the No. 16 Ford was fast on long green flag runs giving Biffle the advantage to gain positions in the closing laps to finish 14th.

In the Points

Biffle is currently 19th in the point standings, 49 points out of 16th.

Biffle on Kentucky:

“Kentucky is one of the roughest places we go and one of the most challenging setup wise. You want the car right down on the race track, but yet it’s moving up and down a tremendous amount, and you are trying to keep it down on the track without being two ridged or bouncing around; it’s definitely a challenge.

“Kentucky is also a tough place to get your car working and to get over those bumps.  They have ground some more of the track and we did a tire test there.  It’s a little bit smoother on the front stretch but it’s still a challenging place.”

Puccia on Kentucky:

“We have a pretty good plan going into this weekend and I feel optimistic about what the new rules package will offer.  Kentucky has been a track where we’ve had decent success on different levels and I’m excited to get there and see what we’ve got.”
