ADVANCE NOTES

Reed at Kentucky

Reed has made two starts at Kentucky Speedway, both in his 2014 rookie season with Roush Fenway Racing. In the June 2014 race, Reed finished 17th after starting 15th and getting caught a lap down on pit road when the caution was displayed. In the September 2014 race, Reed finished 11th after starting 16th.

Reed on 1.5-mile tracks

So far this season, Reed has recorded four top-15 finishes at the five 1.5-mile tracks that the NASCAR XFINITY Series has visited. His only finish outside of the top 15 came at Atlanta, where he finished 16th.

Riding with Ryan

American Diabetes Association® Youth Ambassador Rachel Hopkins will ride along with Ryan Reed this weekend at Kentucky. Hopkins was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes as a 14-month-old. Now 18, she is preparing for her freshman year of college at Anderson University in Anderson, Ind., where she plans to study nursing and work as a diabetes educator.

Daytona Recap

Reed finished 13th at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday after being caught up in the “big one” with 10 laps to go. Reed started the event in the eighth position and ran in the top three for the majority of the race before the incident.

2015 Season

Reed is currently eighth in the NASCAR XFINITY Series championship standings after one win and 10 top-15 finishes.

He is the leading closer in the NASCAR XFINITY Series, improving a total of 31 positions in the last 10 percent of this season’s races.

Reed and teammate Chris Buescher are the only XFINITY Series regulars to win a race so far this season.

Reed on Kentucky

“While Kentucky traditionally hasn’t been my favorite or best track, we have done a lot of preparation for this race, including spending time in the simulator. I feel like we are as prepared as we can be if we just go in with a positive attitude and do our best. It would mean a lot to do well this weekend and take home a top-10 finish for Lilly Diabetes and the American Diabetes Association.”

Tune-in

Reed and the rest of the NASCAR XFINITY Series will take the green flag from Kentucky Speedway on Friday, July 10 at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Network and PRN.
