BRAD KESELOWSKI – No. 22 Discount Tire Ford Mustang – WHAT DID YOU NEED TODAY TO CATCH THE 20? “We were just a little bit off everywhere, but Greg Erwin and everyone on the No. 22 Hertz Ford Mustang team worked real hard to execute. We had great execution there and got the most out of what we had to finish third, so that’s something to be proud of.” DID YOU THINK THE FOUR TIRES WORKED THE WAY YOU WANTED IT TO? “It was the right call and probably got us to third, instead of fourth or fifth.” WERE YOU SURPRISED THE FOUR TIRES DIDN’T WORK BETTER THAN THEY DID? “Yeah, a little bit. We just weren’t quite as fast as the 33 and the 20 were. They were probably the two best cars the whole race and the 2 car looked like he was really good and the 54 I couldn’t quite tell, but we just weren’t fast enough this weekend. We were lacking a little bit of speed, but this is my first time working with Greg Erwin here and we’ll get to work and come back a little bit better next time.”
DARRELL WALLACE JR. – No. 6 Cross Insurance Ford Mustang – “Our Cross Insurance Mustang didn’t really have any short run speed at all, so we had to pull a little strategy there and try to stay out and it didn’t work out for us. I didn’t have a good feeling about it, but we needed some clean air and our car didn’t do too well in clean air. We came out top 10, and that’s good but it was a long race. I was trying to muscle those guys and catch the 7 and get us a little bit better, but that’s two good finishes in a row. We can go to Indy, where I have no idea what I’m doing there.”
CHRIS BUESCHER – No. 60 Zest Ford Mustang – “That wasn’t much fun. We struggled throughout the race with just no grip. I’m not exactly sure what it is. We haven’t had a whole lot of luck with this chassis number, so maybe there’s something to it.” YOU DIDN’T LOSE A LOT OF POINTS TO YOUR LEAD. “Yeah, but you don’t want to lose points and we did that. We’ve got to try and get it back to where we started the year off and get some momentum back on our side and get rolling.” YOU WERE IN THE LUCKY DOG SPOT A COUPLE TIMES, BUT COULDN”T HOLD ON TO GET BACK ON THE LEAD LAP. “Yeah, we just didn’t have much for going forward. If we could have got on the lead lap it would have put a barrier between us and a couple guys, but that was about all we had today. It was a tough day.”
RYAN REED – No. 16 Lilly/ American Diabetes Association Ford Mustang – “I would say we salvaged a decent finish today. We started P21 and, honestly, if you would have asked me before the race I was not optimistic. We struggled in practice and struggled in qualifying. Realistically, to end up 13th – we don’t come to the race track to finish 13th, however I’m really proud of my guys for all the hard work. Whether we’re gonna finish 17th or win the race, we’re gonna dig for every spot we can get. It’s just about having heart and soul and getting all you can get.”
