I've followed NASCAR for well over 20 years of my life, both as a fan and now as a member of the media. As of 2024, I'm on my ninth season as a traveling NASCAR beat writer. For all its flaws and dumb moments, NASCAR at its best produces some of the best action you'll ever see in the sport of auto racing. Case in point: Kyle Larson's threading the needle pass at Darlington Raceway on May 9, 2021. On used-up tires, racing on a worn surface and an aero package that put his car on the razor's edge of control, Larson demonstrated why he's a generational talent. Those are the stories I want to capture and break down. In addition to NASCAR, I also follow IndyCar and Formula 1. As a native of Knoxville, Tennessee, and a graduate of the University of Tennessee, I'm a diehard Tennessee Volunteers fan (especially in regards to Tennessee football). If covering NASCAR doesn't kill me, down the road, watching Tennessee football will. I'm also a diehard fan of the Atlanta Braves, and I lived long enough to see them win a World Series for the first time since 1995 (when I was just a year old). I've also sworn my fan allegiance to the Nashville Predators, though that's not paid out as much as the Braves. Furthermore, as a massive sports dork, I follow the NFL on a weekly basis. Though it's more out of an obligation than genuine passion (for sports dorks, following the NFL is basically an unwritten rule). Outside of sports, I'm a major cinema buff and a weeb. My favorite film is "Blazing Saddles" and my favorite anime is "Black Lagoon."

Despite leading 47 laps and having a strong car, the driver of the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota was black-flagged by NASCAR for "improper fueling." During his stop, the gas man engaged the fuel can with the fuel intake of the car and left a tool on the back of the car.

One final restart was all that was needed for John Hunter Nemechek to score the victory at Atlanta. The driver of the No. 8 NEMCO Motorsports Chevrolet led just eight laps, but it was the final eight laps as he scored his second career victory in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

Kyle Busch Puts on Clinic in XFINITY Race at Atlanta

Kyle Busch wins in XFINITY. The driver of the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota led 119 of the 163 laps on his way to scoring his 76th career victory in the NASCAR XFINITY Series.

Denny Hamlin Fastest in Final Practice at Atlanta

Denny Hamlin topped the chart in the final session of Sprint Cup Series practice. The driver of the No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota posted a time of 29.419 and a speed of 188.450 mph.

Matt Crafton wins the pole for this afternoon's Camping World Truck Series race. The driver of the No. 88 ThorSport Racing Toyota posted the fastest time in qualifying for the Great Clips 200 with a time of 30.836 and a speed of 179.790 mph.

Kyle Busch on XFINITY pole at Atlanta

Kyle Busch will lead the field to the green flag in this afternoon's XFINITY race. The driver of the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota won the pole for today's Heads Up Georgia 250 after posting a time of 29.887 and a speed of 185.499 mph.

Grant Enfinger Tops Final Truck Practice

In case you missed it, Grant Enfinger topped the chart in final Camping World Truck Series practice. The driver of the No. 33 GMS Racing Chevrolet was the fastest in the final practice session with a time of 31.011 and a speed of 178.775 mph.

Kurt Busch Wins Pole at Atlanta after Kyle Busch’s Time is Disallowed

The Busch Brothers were going to start 1 and 2 when the green flag flew on Sunday at Atlanta, but a surprise circumstance gave the pole to Kurt. Kurt Busch won the pole in his No. 41 Stewart-Haas Racing Chevrolet after posting a time of 28.938 and a speed of 191.582 mph. Brother Kyle originally won the pole, but his time was disallowed in post-qualifying inspection.

Erik Jones tops final XFINITY practice at Atlanta

For the second time today, Erik Jones tops the field in XFINITY Series practice. The driver of the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota was the fastest in the final practice session with a time of 30.551 and a speed of 181.467 mph.
