After a weekend off, the NASCAR Xfinity Series made a stop in the Windy City of Chicago for their fifteenth race of the season yesterday. This race also marked the beginning of the Summer stretch as it was the first of fifteen races in a row. Extremely high temperatures would play a major factor throughout the weekend for drivers and teams.
CHASE ELLIOTT, NO. 9 NAPA AUTO PARTS CAMARO ZL1 – Qualified 3rd - NOTE: Elliott finished 10th in the Overtons 300 NASCAR Xfinity race and subsequently received fluids at the Infield Care Center due to the oppressive heat conditions. PAUL MENARD, No. 21 Menards/Sylvania Ford Fusion -- Qualified 1st - “My guys did a hell of a job today. We weren’t very good in practice. We did a mock run that was so loose that we had to abort it and never really got a true mock run. We had speed and all through those rounds we got a little too loose in round two and we adjusted for it. Round three drove like rails. It was good.”
