Chase Elliott was Chevrolet’s highest-finishing Camaro ZL1 in Sunday’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) race at Talladega Superspeedway ending the day with a third-place finish.

It wasn’t, I don’t think, as fast as we’ve been previously at the restrictor plate tracks, but I feel like it was a solid car. I got to the end and those guys around me were working together so much. I thought for sure one of them wanted to win a little worse than what they did. They were being very patient with one another and I was surprised by that. If it was me, I feel like I would have wanted to try or do something. Those guys weren’t having it. I was trying to move forward and make a lane and push and they were not interested in advancing. So, it could have been a lot worse, so we’ll move on to Dover.”

Kevin Harvick dominated Fr8Auctions Qualifying on Saturday at Talladega Superspeedway to win the Busch Pole Award for Sunday’s 49th GEICO 500.

Superspeedways tend to produce a racing product that fans find very exciting. This excitement often gets combined with uncertainty when teams and drivers head to Talladega. This time, on this day, it didn’t turn out as hoped for Spencer Boyd and the SS Greenlight team as the No. 76 Grunt Style Camaro’s day ended in the race’s second caution.

Matt Tifft and the KC Motorgroup Team Show Resilience at Talladega Superspeedway Despite Cut Tire - "We can't seem to catch a break at these restrictor-plate tracks. We had a strong No. 2 KC Motorgroup Chevrolet all weekend. My crew chief, Randall Burnett, and my team focused on race trim for this weekend, knowing we needed a bit more of that at our last plate race. I had no issues during the race, and we were able to run in the top 10 pretty much all day. It' unfortunate that our result didn't match it."

Austin Cindric looked to be in position to win his first NASCAR XFINITY Series race – and score $100,000 in the process as part of the four-driver Dash 4 Cash program – but his No. 22 Fitzgerald Glider Kits Ford Mustang ran out of fuel coming to the final restart to relegate him to a 30th-place finish in Saturday’s Sparks Energy 300 at Talladega Superspeedway.

AUSTIN CINDRIC, No. 22 Fitzgerald Glider Kits Ford Mustang “Went from hero to zero, right? We were in position to get the Dash for Cash and maybe a win regardless of what happened to the 7. But hey, we were in contention. We got shoved off cycle there but it is something out of our control and that is what put us in that position anyway. We can’t hang out head too low, it is just one of those deals. I am excited for Dover, it is one of my favorite tracks and the 22 guys have a lot of confidence going there so maybe we can pull off a win there.”

MARTIN TRUEX JR., No. 78 Bass Pro Shops/ 5-hour ENERGY Toyota Camry, Furniture Row Racing - Starting Position: 3rd - How did your car feel in qualifying? “It feels okay, I think for us the big deal is that the last couple restrictor plate races we’ve qualified really poorly. Came here with a little more effort on trying to have a faster race car and hopefully qualify good, stay up front and stay out of the wrecks. So far, so good."

KURT BUSCH, No. 41 Monster Energy/Haas Automation Ford Fusion -- Qualified 2nd - “I have never been on the pole for a plate race and I wanted to check that off the list. Thank you Doug Yates. We wouldn’t be in this position if we didn’t have great horsepower. That is the fun part of our qualifying, showcasing the talent of the engine builder and the way these guys build the aero package. To have two Stewart-Haas cars on the front row is great. We would have loved to gotten the pole but outside pole is great and I am proud of our Monster Energy Ford.”
