For Michael Annett and his No. 46 St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Chevrolet team, the 2.45-mile course featuring right-hand turns presents a unique challenge, but one Annett has already encountered; the driver has participated in seven races at The Glen, with his best finish, 11th, coming in the 2012 NASCAR Xfinity Series race.
WATKINS GLEN TEST: Kasey Kahne and the No. 5 Great Clips Chevrolet SS team have already visited Watkins Glen once this season. The No. 5 team completed a two-day tire test on May 10 and 11. In Kahne’s 12 starts at the 2.45-mile road course, he recorded a best finish of 12th in 2014 after he led three laps.
ROOKIE RECORD: Tundra driver William Byron became the winningest rookie in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) history with his victory at Pocono Raceway on Saturday. Byron has won five races in his first full-time season in the NCWTS, breaking the record of four triumphs previously set by Kurt Busch in 2000. Along with Pocono, the 18-year-old has notched victories at Kansas Speedway (May 6), Texas Motor Speedway (June 10), Iowa Speedway (June 18) and Kentucky Speedway (July 7). Byron has won four-of-the-last-six races and registered seven top-10 finishes in 12 starts this season.
