Chase Elliott's debut in the 2016 Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup elevated the NAPA AUTO PARTS driver to sixth in the championship standings heading into this weekend’s race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
“We’re ready to rebound this weekend in New Hampshire. We ran better than where we finished here in July and I know that (crew chief) Matt (Puccia) will give me a really solid AdvoCare Ford that will give us a chance to get up front and see what we can do.”
“I’m really looking forward to getting back to Kentucky. We scored a top-five there in July and I’m confident we can back that up this weekend with our Bleacher Report Mustang. We need to get all we can with the Chase kicking off this weekend and make sure we are in a good position come the end of the race.”
Great Clips Inc. will continue its sponsorship of Hendrick Motorsports and the No. 5 Chevrolet SS team of driver Kasey Kahne in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series with a contract extension through 2018.
“Loudon is one of the more unique race tracks that we race at. It’s a little bit flatter one-mile race track. The thing I like about it is you can diamond the corner or run down on the apron a little bit and up the race track. It gives a lot of opportunities to pass even though it’s difficult.”
“We’ve had some success at New Hampshire in the past. We always look forward to racing at Fenway Sports Group’s home track. New Hampshire is a fast one-mile track with multiple grooves. We had a top-10 finish earlier this year so I look for another solid run in our Fastenal Ford this weekend.”
This trip to Loudon, N.H., will be Almirola's 12th start at the one-mile oval. He scored two Top-10 finishes, a fifth-place finish in 2013 and a sixth-place finish in 2014. Almirola ran one XFINITY race there and finished in the fifth position.
"I love Loudon. It's the site of my first-ever NASCAR start in the Camping World Truck Series in 2007. I feel like it was a good track for me in the XFINITY Series, and I'm looking forward to getting back there.
The second race in this year’s Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup is on tap for Sunday afternoon at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, where Ford has 13 victories overall including three in the Chase.
