A solid run at Auto Club Speedway ended with a trip to the garage for Greg Biffle. Biffle started the race 22nd and was making gains on the track when something went amiss with his No. 16 Ford EcoBoost Ford, ultimately sending him to the garage where it was determined their day was done leaving Biffle with a 37th-place finish.
Trevor Bayne powered his No. 6 AdvoCare Ford Fusion inside the top 15 for much of the day before a flat right-rear tire relegated him to a 20th-place finish in Sunday afternoon’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) event at Auto Club Speedway
KEVIN HARVICK, NO. 4 JIMMY JOHN’S CHEVROLET SS – FINISHED 2ND - WHAT HAPPENED ON THE FINAL RESTART? “That was the worst it has taken off on restarts, but we weren’t very good on restarts for four or five laps unless we were all by ourselves. The No. 48 was able to hang with us and we just weren’t able to drive it in like I needed to, just didn’t’ have the front tires turning and the back wouldn’t grip. Still a good day for us, just have to thank everybody from Jimmy John’s and Busch. We will keep at it.”
GREG BIFFLE – No. 16 EcoBoost Ford Fusion – “We’re not really sure. It might be something in the engine. It started smoking a little bit there and it was down on power, so we figured we would just bring it in and take a look at it before we break something out on the race track.

DARRELL WALLACE JR. – No. 6 EcoBoost Ford Mustang – “This is great. I don’t know where to begin. We weren’t where we wanted to be in practice, but this was our better day of the two this week. I messed up in qualifying and that put us behind a little bit, but I knew we had a decent EcoBoost Ford Mustang to work with."
TREVOR BAYNE – No. 6 AdvoCare Ford Fusion – “It was pretty event-free, really. It was kind of nice because every session we were comfortably around the top 10. They did a great job with the car this week. I feel like it was really good in race trim and I was happy with how it drove because it didn’t just have speed."
DENNY HAMLIN, No. 11 Sport Clips Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing - Starting Position: 3rd - How was your qualifying run? “Pretty good. We concentrated on qualifying today, trying to save those tires for tomorrow and I feel pretty confident."
