NASCAR Cup Series

Coming off of a pair of XFINITY Series Championship, there was a lot of positive momentum around Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and everybody was expecting stellar results. That momentum has since faded, though, as a lot of people are asking the question - where are those results?

The issue – which hits newsstands Friday, January 23 – highlights the intersection of music and sports including features “Entertainers of the Year,” as two of the biggest stars of the year – pop star Katy Perry and NFL powerhouse JJ Watt – collide; and “The Perfect Strangers,” which highlights the developing relationship between NASCAR’s native son, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and platinum-selling hip-hop artist, J. Cole, and how they were forever linked by a single lyric before they even met.

The last time Dale Earnhardt Jr. visited Martinsville Speedway he found himself in Victory Lane, taking home his first grandfather clock trophy.

Wood Brothers Racing has become something of a common face in NASCAR. Their consistent attendance year in and year out has possibly gone unnoticed to some, so one member of the family has set out to make sure the team’s founding fathers get the recognition they finally deserve for their unwavering show of perseverance.

Recently, a story by Chad Robb listed the top ten organizations in Cup. Not surprisingly, those ten organizations represented all but one of last season’s top 28 teams. Hendrick, Penske, Gibbs, Stewart-Haas, Ganassi, Childress, Roush-Fenway, Waltrip, and Petty were all there.

He became the first – and to date, only – black driver to win a premier series race, at Jacksonville, Florida, in 1963. He made 495 starts to rank 37th on the series’ all-time list, posting 147 top-10 finishes, more than 25% of the races he entered. Scott finished four times among the top 10 in driver championship standings including a sixth in 1966.

Following a victory in 2013, many fans were surprised that Greg Biffle went winless for the entire 2014 season. However, that was just how the year went for the driver of the No. 16 Ford Fusion for Roush Fenway Racing.

From 1961 through 1967 he won 26 times, posting more victories than NASCAR Hall of Famers Richard Petty (21) and David Pearson (eight). Lorenzen’s 16.46 career winning percentage ranks fifth all-time and highest among drivers without a NASCAR premier series championship.

Up-and-coming driver Cole Whitt will expand the Front Row Motorsports racing stable to three full-time cars in 2015, piloting the No. 35 Ford with support from Speed Stick® for 10 races, including the season-opening Daytona 500. Randy Cox will also join the Front Row team to continue his relationship with Whitt as crew chief.

Following Kurt Busch's success last year in running both the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca Cola 600, there's been talk as to whether other drivers would consider making an attempt at running both races on Memorial Day.
