Denny Hamlin held off Jeff Gordon on Sunday and won the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series AdvoCare 500 Atlanta Motor Speedway. This was Hamlin’s fourth win of the season, the most of any driver thus far and places himself in position to top the standings when the 12-driver Chase starts after next weekend's race at Richmond.

Didn’t qualify very well and after practicing didn’t think we were going be well but once again the 2 crew stepped up and gave me a great racecar and drove ‘er up towards about fifth and that was kind of where we leveled off and that restart was able to get up third. But just a solid night here at Atlanta and proud of the effort. Got some good consistency and some great cars and it feels good to be locked into the Chase, too.”

CARL EDWARDS – No. 99 Subway Ford Fusion – “This is not the interview I wanted to do after the race. Our Subway Fusion was pretty good. I was having a lot of fun driving. I love this race track, but it looks like a piston or something. It started making noise about 25-30 laps ago and it’s just hard to put into words. That’s just how our season has been going and I don’t know what the reason is."

A total of 17 Team Chevy drivers will start the AdvoCare 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) race at Atlanta Motor Speedway

Michael Waltrip Racing has never placed one their cars in the Sprint Cup Series Chase for the Championship, they've never had a driver finish in the top 10 in points. But after Sunday night’s race at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, the AdvoCare 500, MWR could check one of those off their list by having both of their full-time drivers locked into the 2012 playoffs.

David Gilliland will being driving his No.38 Ford Fusion at Atlanta this Labor Day during the Advocare 500 with special attention to a local business and the US Military, both having ties to local towns just outside of Raleigh, NC.

Greg Biffle, driver of the No. 16 3M Ford Fusion, was the highest Ford Racing qualifier for tomorrow night’s AdvoCare 500. Biffle, who is scheduled to start second, led the first practice session on Saturday at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Atlanta is one of those tracks where I really respect the drivers for hanging it all out there and really being on the edge of disaster at all times. Its aging surface lacks grip giving drivers with a background in dirt racing a competitive advantage over the field. It reminds me of the days of watching the DIRT modified's circle 'D-Shaped Dirt Demon' at my hometown track, the 3/8th-mile in Brewerton, NY.

Danica Patrick announced Saturday at Atlanta Motor Speedway that she will pilot a special hot pink race car at the Oct. 12 Dollar General 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway in honor of October’s Breast Cancer Awareness month. A line of pink racing memorabilia will also be sold, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
