Matt Kenseth enters the first road course race of the season as the NASCAR Sprint Cup series points leader. The steady Kenseth talked with members of the media at Sonoma prior to the first practice session Friday morning.

Marcos Ambrose, driver of the No. 9 Stanley Ford Fusion, returns to the scene of his near win in 2010 looking for a bit of redemption and with a little extra incentive. A win for Ambrose Sunday would mean a $1 million dollar donation by Stanley to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

Tommy Baldwin Racing (TBR) will compete with two cars at the Sonoma road course this weekend. Trans Am Champion Tomy Drissi will make his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) debut in the No. 10 Ice Age: Continental Drift Chevrolet. Dave Blaney will pilot the No. 36 Chevrolet in the 110-lap event.

Robby Gordon returns to NASCAR Sprint Cup competition this weekend at Sonoma Raceway in the No. 7 MAPEI / SPEED Energy Dodge Charger. Gordon has been busy during his break from stock car racing; he has competed in several off-road races and posted wins at The Mint 400, The Parker 425 and The Silver State 300.

Kentucky State Police (KSP) outlined its parking and traffic management plan for Kentucky Speedway’s June 28-30 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series “Quaker State 400” weekend during a news conference today.

Roush Fenway Racing’s Matt Kenseth takes the Sprint Cup point lead into Sonoma this weekend, as NASCAR heads west for its first road course test of the season. For Roush Fenway it has become a familiar place atop the standings.

NASCAR drivers spend most of their career turning left every weekend, so when they are forced to make right-hand turns it can be somewhat of a learning curve. Carl Edwards was no exception when he made his first road course start at Sonoma back in 2005.

“When you see a car and a driver get momentum, and all the cars are running real well, they’re sharing information, and Dale is just switched on,” Rick Hendrick says. “He’s got the confidence, Stevie has the touch and every week they’re the best by far. I think he’s sitting in the cat bird seat to win his first championship.”
