NASCAR Cup Series

This weekend RFR and NASCAR take their first ‘right-turns’ of the season with road course action split across the country. The Sprint Cup Series travels to the wine country of northern California for a showdown at Sonoma, while the Nationwide Series heads to Road America in Wisconsin.

EGR at Sonoma: In 29 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) starts at Sonoma, EGR teams boast one win with Juan Pablo Montoya on June 24, 2007. EGR drivers have finished in the top-five three times and the top-10 seven times.

Biffle on racing at Sonoma: “I’m looking forward to Sonoma. I love road racing, it’s a lot of fun. The thing I don’t like about it is the restarts."

Carl Edwards on racing at Infineon Raceway: “Sonoma is one of the most fun tracks we go to. It is real slippery and it is so much different than what most of us grew up racing, it is a huge challenge. To me, it is one of the tracks I look forward to the most."

Last night at the American Business Awards (ABA’s) in New York City, NASCAR won two awards for special events that were created by NASCAR for official partners.

No. 56 NAPA AUTO PARTS driver Martin Truex Jr. and crew chief Chad Johnston embark on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series’ first road-course race of the season at Sonoma on Sunday.

In 51 starts at the 10-turn stadium course, Richard Childress Racing owns two wins, with Dale Earnhardt in the 1995 Save Mart Supermarkets 300 and with Robby Gordon in the Save Mart 350 in 2003, one pole award (Earnhardt, 1995), 13 top-five and 22 top-10 finishes.

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series travels to Sonoma, Calif. this weekend in what might be the social highlight of the season. The scenery, nice hotels and night life makes the Napa Valley one of the sport’s favorite places to visit.

“You go there thinking about different things because your driving style on approach, and things you do in the car, is a lot different. We go to Sonoma working as hard as we can in practice to get our car to drive as good as it can because certainly there are a lot more opportunities for mistakes from a drivers standpoint at that track."
