NASCAR Cup Series

When Regan Smith arrives at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway for this weekend's Sprint Cup race he will have more comfort dealing with the memory of his almost victory three years ago at the 2.66-mile oval.

JEFF GORDON, NO. 24 DRIVE TO END HUNGER CHEVROLET, was the guest on the NASCAR Weekly Teleconference. Below is the complete transcript:

YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT SUNDAY’S UPCOMING RACE AT TALLADEGA. “Well, thanks for having me on. It’s a pleasure to talk to you and to everybody and to get everybody excited about the final five races."

Edwards scored his third-straight top-5 finish, posting a third in the Bank Of America 500. Edwards increased his lead in the point standings, and now holds a five-point advantage over Kevin Harvick.

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series holds its final restrictor-plate race of the season Sunday at Talladega Superspeedway. Last month, NASCAR introduced rule changes to reduce two-car drafting common in the three previous plate races in 2012.

Why was there confusion during the NASCAR weekend at the Charlotte Motor Speedway? That's because literally everything we expected to happen didn't happen.

Biffle on Talladega: “Talladega should be exciting this weekend. The Fords were the class of the field there in the spring and I expect the same thing this weekend. You’ll obviously need a good drafting partner to run well on Sunday."
