It is definitely not the day we wanted and we got trapped a lap down early, didn’t fire off very good. At least we got our car a little better the last 100 laps or so but then we had an issue and I had to take it easy toward the end. It figures. We got the car better and then just had to kind of ride around the last 60 laps or so. That stunk. The main goal is to transfer and I think the second round is really good for us. I am really excited about that. I am excited to get to Charlotte.”

DOVER, Del. (September 30, 2017) With the first cutoff race to the 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs looming, Chevrolet’s Chase Elliott and Jimmie Johnson, both championship contenders, led the way on the speed chart heading into tomorrow’s Apache Warriors 400 at Dover.

Many in the NASCAR community agree with the comments made by Trump, Childress, and Petty, that whoever refuses to stand for the anthem should be fired. It has made a volatile situation, first started in the NFL, worse. Many others in the NASCAR community also believe that these comments did more harm than good for the sport's image, an image it has tried to shed and has only marginally succeeded.

I’ve been second to him a lot in qualifying, so it’s cool to – for us to get a pole. I think he was second, am I correct? Yeah, so it’s – we’ve been on the front row quite a few times together, so feels good that we’re the one in first this time, so it’s pretty cool.”

Martin Truex Jr. won the pole and his Furniture Row Racing teammate Erik Jones qualified 10th for Sunday’s Apache Warrior 400 at Dover International Speedway.

Elliott’s Hendrick Motorsports No. 24 Chevrolet edged teammate Jimmie Johnson by .067 seconds in the 55-minute final tune-up at the “Monster Mile.” Elliott will start 12th in Sunday’s Apache Warrior 400 (2 p.m. ET, NBCSN, MRN, SiriusXM), the final event for the three-race Round of 16 in the NASCAR Playoffs.

DOVER, Del. – The two drivers who have seized control of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Playoff continued their domination in Friday’s knockout qualifying session at Dover International Speedway.

KEVIN HARVICK – No. 4 Busch Beer Ford Fusion – HOW WAS QUALIFYING? “We have a good Busch Ford Fusion. From practice to qualifying we just got a bit tighter compared to what we were in practice. I never just did catch up with the balance. The car has been good. It was good in race trim and good in qualifying trim. Hopefully we can have a good day on Sunday.”

KYLE LARSON, NO. 42 CREDIT ONE BANK CHEVROLET SS – Qualified 3rd - TOP 10 START IS THAT WHAT YOU GUYS WERE LOOKING FOR? “Yeah, I mean you always want to qualify well especially here, pit selection is important and track position as well. So, the No. 78 (Martin Truex, Jr.) and the No. 18 (Kyle Busch) have been really good and we have been right with them, so, we will work on race trim for tomorrow and hopefully be good on Sunday.”
