CLINT BOWYER, No. 14 Haas Automation Ford Fusion (Qualified 3rd) DID YOU REALIZE YOUR CAR WAS THAT FAST IN PRACTICE? “Yeah, it was. I think we ended third in practice. Real proud of the guys. They did a great job. We had a little bit of a hiccup on the first lap and made some adjustments and got the most out of the second and third sessions. Real proud of everyone on the Stewart-Haas Fords. I think they’re all strong. (Kevin) Harvick must have gone for it and probably washed up on him."

KYLE LARSON, NO. 42 CARS 3 TARGET CHEVROLET SS – Pole Winner “We made some good adjustments there for that final round. I was pretty good in the first round and a little bit tight in the second round. They went a step further on freeing it up for the final round and the Cars 3 Chevy drove good. I could tell by the rpm and the engine it was going to be a pretty good lap so I was happy about that to get the pole after winning here last year. So, hopefully we can keep it going. So far, it’s been a really good weekend leading in practice and then getting the quick time here. So, yeah; it’s an exciting weekend and hopefully we can keep it going.”

ERIK JONES, No. 77 5-hour ENERGY Toyota Camry, Furniture Row Racing - How has your week been at home here in Michigan? “Yeah, it’s been a busy week. I didn’t get home ‘til Tuesday night, drove back up here and went over and tested a late model on Wednesday over in Grand Rapids, Michigan and then yesterday kind of got to take the day off, visit a little friends and family and then back it again today, so just nice to come home. Nice to sleep in the house that I grew up in and stay there – it’s only about an hour away from here – and roll into the race track in the morning. It’s just cool to be here and on Sunday get all the family and friends out. I’ve burned through every possible hot pass I can get, so just nice to have everybody here and be close to home.”

Joey Logano started the season strong with top-five finishes in all but three of the first nine races. But following his win at Richmond International Raceway, his season turned south fast.

Joey Logano, driver of the No. 22 Shell Pennzoil Ford Fusion returns to Michigan International Speedway as the defending race winner and was third fastest in opening NASCAR Cup Series practice Friday morning. Logano spoke about the weekend ahead.

Kyle Larson topped the chart in first Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series practice at Michigan International Speedway.

DANIEL SUÁREZ, No. 19 STANLEY Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing - How does it feel to be back in Michigan where you got your first NASCAR XFINITY Series win last year? “Well, it’s going to be – I guess from last year on, I think it’s going to be always a special place. The first one – the first one is always a very, very special one, as you know, and the way that we got that victory here just a year ago it was very good."

Michigan International Speedway is the home track for Ford Motor Co. and through the years no manufacturer has had more success.  Ford has won nearly half of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series races held at the two-mile speedway (47-of-95, 49.5%), which includes 35 wins by Ford and 12 with Mercury.
