McMurray hasn’t had a lot of raw firepower- just one top five and nine top 10s are the worst in the Chase save for Chris Buescher. What he has had, however, has been consistency. Only five times has McMurray finished outside of the top 20, he has 19 lead lap finishes out of 26 starts, and his lone DNF was in a multi-car wreck at Daytona.

RICHMOND, Va. -- Ryan Newman described the late race wreck that ended his Chase hopes as having "got Tony Stewarted."

Martin Truex Jr. brought home a third-place finish in Saturday night’s 407-lap overtime race at Richmond International Raceway. It was his career best Sprint Cup result at Richmond’s 0.75-mile short track.

Recap: In the final race of the regular season for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, Brad Keselowski and the No. 2 Miller Lite Ford Fusion team scored a fourth-place finish in the Federated Auto Parts 400 at Richmond International Raceway.

Greg Biffle made his 500th Sprint Cup Series start Saturday night at Richmond International Raceway. Biffle had a solid top-10 finish in his sights until contact on the final green-white-checkered finish damaged his No. 16 Ford EcoBoost Ford and cost him valuable track position. Despite spinning, Biffle was able to keep going to cross the finish line 23rd.

In the final race to make the 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) Chase for the Cup, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. drove his Zest Ford to a 19th place finish after being collected in multi-car accident late in Saturday night’s Federated Auto Parts 400 at Richmond International Raceway.

The first 26 regular season NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races are in the books. After 400-laps/300-miles of racing at Richmond International Raceway, the 2016 NASCAR Chase for the Sprint Cup field has now been set. Chevrolet will have eight drivers, the most of any manufacturer, competing for the championship – Jimmie Johnson, Kevin Harvick, Kurt Busch, Kyle Larson, Tony Stewart, Austin Dillon, Chase Elliott, and Jamie McMurray – will all vie to take the 2016 championship honors in the season-finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
