After an ill-timed caution in the closing laps, Chase Elliott went from leading the race to out of position and lost another potential victory.

Trevor Bayne, driver of the No. 6 AdvoCare Ford Fusion, recorded a 23rd-place finish in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) event at Chicagoland Speedway on Sunday afternoon.

Greg Biffle drove his No. 16 Performance Plus Motor Oil Ford Fusion to a 26th-place finish Sunday afternoon at Chicagoland Speedway. Biffle started 24th due to rain changing the track schedule and attempted to stretch fuel mileage to overcome handling issues, but long green flag runs led to an uphill battle.

In the first race for the Chase of the NASCAR Sprint Cup, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. drove his Fastenal Ford to a 25th-place finish after long green flag runs kept him from getting back on the lead lap in Sunday’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 400 at Chicagoland.

A late-race pit strategy gamble put Ryan Blaney and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Fusion in position to win the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle 400 at Chicagoland Speedway in overtime, but cars with newer tires passed the Wood Brothers’ rookie on the last re-start and he ended up with a very strong fourth place.

CHASE ELLIOTT: I expected it. We've all watched this stuff long enough; we know these races don't go green that long typically. We know that we see late‑race cautions way more often than not. That's a part of racing from short‑track racing all the way up to this stuff.

Despite a flat right-rear tire early in the race, Martin Truex Jr. fought back to score the victory in the Windy City.
