NASCAR Cup Series Champion Joey Logano this week had a chance to feel the raw electric power of the one-of-a-kind Mustang Mach-E 1400 prototype along with Ford's famed drift star Vaughn Gittin Jr. at Ford’s Romeo Proving Grounds in Michigan.

For the first time this season, NASCAR’s premier series returns to Michigan International Speedway for an action-packed doubleheader race weekend.

Richard Childress Racing at Michigan International Speedway ... In 175 NASCAR Cup Series starts at the two-mile speedway, Richard Childress Racing has recorded three wins with drivers Dale Earnhardt (1987 & 1990) and Kevin Harvick (2010). The Welcome, N.C. organization has also secured 25 top-five and 58 top-10 finishes.

Joey Logano, driver of the No. 22 Shell/Pennzoil Ford Mustang in the NASCAR Cup Series and Chase Briscoe, driver of the No. 98 Ford Performance Racing School Mustang in the NASCAR XFINITY Series, both participated in a NASCAR Zoom call this afternoon to talk about this weekend’s action at Michigan International Speedway and Road America. Brad Keselowski, driver of the No. 2 Discount Tire Ford Mustang, is coming off his third win of the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series season after taking the checkered flag Sunday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. He heads to his home state of Michigan for this weekend’s doubleheader still seeking his first series win at the two-mile track.

his weekend Michigan International Speedway will become just the second track in NASCAR Cup Series history to run a doubleheader at the same facility in consecutive days, joining Pocono Raceway (June 27-28, 2020). First up, is Saturday’s Firekeepers Casino 400 at 4 p.m. ET on NBCSN, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, followed by Sunday’s Consumer Energy 400 at 4:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

Driver Jimmie Johnson on the doubleheader weekend: “Physically, the doubleheader won’t be too bad as a driver. The track doesn’t physically challenge us so much in the car, but from the team side and the crews, this schedule is brutal. We had a similar schedule in Pocono, so we learned a lot from that weekend and will go into Michigan more prepared than we were before.”
