"Darlington is obviously a tough track but one that is very fun. Making it even more fun this weekend is the "Davey Allison Tribute" scheme we are running on our No. 28 Toyota. Davey was a great star in our sport who was taken from us way too early.

Who is the greatest country singer ever associated with NASCAR? There has been Kid Rock, Sheryl Crow, Brad Paisley, Brooks and Dunn, Hank Williams Jr., Toby Keith, Cledus T. Judd, and lately Blake Shelton. That is a pretty impressive list of talent and it is far from complete. However, there is no question that the King of NASCAR Country was Marty Robbins.

As part of NASCAR’s VFW Sport Clips Help A Hero 200 Darlington Throwback Weekend, JD Motorsports with Gary Keller will again honor three drivers with ties to the team and South Carolina.

Jeremy Clements is hoping that history is on his side at Darlington Raceway this Labor Day Weekend, when the Clements family “resurrects” the famed “Black Widow”, or at least a modern version of it for the VFW Sport Clips Help A Hero 200.

“It’s really an honor to have this scheme, a Hall of Famers scheme, on our race car this weekend with Mark Martin. I think it will be one of the best-looking cars of the weekend and hopefully, we can give it a great run on Saturday and see if we can get this Ford Mustang in victory lane come days’ end.”

Reed has competed at Darlington Raceway twice in the NASCAR XFINITY Series. In 2014, Reed finished 13th after starting 18th. In this race last year, Reed finished 23rd after starting 17th.

The Irish Hills will be looking for a new commanding officer in the coming days.

In the spirit of NASCAR’s Throwback celebration at Darlington Raceway, NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) driver Ray Black Jr. is excited to reveal he will be honoring his SS Green Light team owner Bobby Dotter with a special No. 07 ScubaLife.com Chevrolet. The No. 07 Chevrolet will sport a yellow, red and green paint scheme at the 1.366-mile track, paying respect to Dotter’s race-winning 1992 No. 08 Jeno’s Pizza Oldsmobile.

NASCAR’s First Officially Licensed Artist and Diabetes Advocate Sam Bass will ‘ride’ with Roush Fenway Racing driver Ryan Reed this weekend at Darlington Raceway. The Concord, N.C. resident will have his name featured on a decal above the passenger-side window on the No. 16 Lilly Diabetes/American Diabetes Association Ford Mustang.

Michael McDowell drove to his first NASCAR national touring series victory in Saturday's NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Road America.
