The rain falling on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course turned out to be the great equalizer and interest as Sebastian Saavedra scored his first ever Verizon P1 Award in his 42nd career Verizon IndyCar Series start.

The Verizon Indycar series kicked off The Official 1st and 2nd sessions of Grand Prix practice Thursday morning. Practice sessions ran for 45 minutes each and drivers took any where from 11 to 22 laps around the 2.434 mile, 14 turn course.

Last week, Scott Steckly and 22 Racing unveiled a brand new look for the No. 22 Canadian Tire Dodge for the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. Rather than going white and red as they’ve gone past years, Steckly’s car will primarily be black and white for the upcoming season.

On Monday, Indianapolis Motor Speedway played host the formal Indianapolis 500 Rookie Orientation Program. The program is designed to make sure that rookies set to enter the 2014 Indianapolis 500 are up to speed with the veterans.

Pippa Mann officially announced today that she will be running the Indianapolis 500 with Dale Coyne Racing. She will be behind the wheel of the No. 63 Susan G. Komen Honda for the 98th running of the event.

INDYCAR officials have fined Andretti-HVM $2,000 for actions during the April 27 Verizon IndyCar Series race at Barber Motorsports Park.
