The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series and XFINITY Series head to Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend as the Cup Series begins its Round of 12 in the Playoffs. The XFINITY Series will close out its opening round of the Playoffs and cut the field from 12 to 8 contenders.
Elliott’s Hendrick Motorsports No. 24 Chevrolet edged teammate Jimmie Johnson by .067 seconds in the 55-minute final tune-up at the “Monster Mile.” Elliott will start 12th in Sunday’s Apache Warrior 400 (2 p.m. ET, NBCSN, MRN, SiriusXM), the final event for the three-race Round of 16 in the NASCAR Playoffs.

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) continued their playoffs run this weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and the second race did not disappoint. Kyle Busch jumped out to the lead after a restart with 23 laps to go and was able to hold on to win his third MENCS race of 2017 and his first ever playoff win.

The NASCAR XFINITY Series heads to Kentucky Speedway for its first playoff race in the Round of 12.
Martin Truex Jr. took the lead not long after the start of the final stage and it was smooth sailing from there, as he drove on to score the victory in the Tales of the Turtles 400 at Chicagoland Speedway.
The 25-year-old Green from Concord, North Carolina, is set to become the 10th competitor to pilot Spire Motorsports' No. 77 Chevrolet entry throughout the 2026 Truck Series season and for his series' debut at Talladega Superspeedway on October 23.
The 36-year-old Ellis from Torrance, California, is Alpha Prime Racing's first full-time competitor signed for the 2027 O'Reilly Auto Parts Series season.
In 150 NASCAR Cup Series starts at Phoenix Raceway, Richard Childress Racing has scored six victories, led by Kevin Harvick with four wins (including a sweep of both races in 2006 plus fall races in 2012 and 2013).
