Conner McMullen Wins 2024 Parker 400 Unlimited Race

After a dramatic final-lap shake-up, Conner McMullen declared the return of Class 1 in a big way in the Parker 400 Unlimited Race, the opening round of the 2024 UNLTD Off-Road Racing Series season. McMullen worked his way up from seventh place in qualifying to hang tough with top qualifier Justin Lofton and his 4WD Unlimited Truck all day, and capitalized on an unlucky break for Lofton just miles from the finish line to score a statement overall victory for UNLTD’s premier open-wheel class.

Lofton, Cole Potts, and McMullen were the clear-cut front-runners early in the day, with the two 4WD Unlimited Truck racers surprisingly nipped on corrected time by McMullen’s Class 1 car at the conclusion of the first lap. That battle would last through the second lap, until Potts made an extended stay in the pits with driveshaft issues that took him out of the battle for the overall.

From there, it was up to Lofton to keep it together. He had a three-minute advantage on McMullen going into the final lap, and both were well clear of Adam Householder, who himself had plenty of cushion on anyone nearby. Then, with less than 15 miles to get to the finish line, heartbreak: Lofton’s truck came to a halt as McMullen continued to move, making the pass for the lead just before 4PM local time.

The Unlimited Truck SPEC battle was every bit as intense as the fight for the overall win, with Jergensen and Davis on top of each other for much of the race, but it had last-lap attrition of its own to cut it short. Jergensen was scored the leader on corrected time after the first lap, but Davis was 12 seconds faster after the second. They’d stay closely matched until Jergensen stopped just short of halfway on the final lap; he’d face an extended delay that would drop him to 10th in class.

Davis would carry on to take not only the class victory, but also a new Chevrolet 525RLB race engine from Auto-Nation Chevrolet. He would also earn second place overall, as he had almost 12 minutes on Householder on corrected time. Class 1 runner-up Mario Fuentes Zaragoza and fellow Unlimited Truck SPEC podium finishers Brent Fox and Jack Olliges were the remaining drivers to complete three laps of the 142-mile course in under seven hours.

Unlimited Race results from the 2024 Parker 400 were as follows:

  1. #140 Conner McMullen, 6:36:02.603
  2. #285 Justin Davis, 6:41:13.703
  3. #24 Adam Householder, 6:53:10.242

Chase Sexton Wins Mudder at San Francisco Supercross

Jordon Smith Tops 250SX Class in the Rain

San Francisco, Calif., (January 14, 2024) At Round 2 of the 17-round series, Red Bull KTM’s Chase Sexton put in a near flawless ride under some of the most brutal race conditions ever seen at a Monster Energy AMA Supercross race. The win moves Sexton into the points lead.

Heavy rains abbreviated daytime qualifying, shortened Main Events, and instigated track changes. Still, many riders left Oracle Park with a DNF rather than championship points. Photo Credit: Feld Motor Sports, Inc.

Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Eli Tomac navigated the deteriorating track to earn second place inside Oracle Park; he jumped from ninth to being tied for third place in the point standings. Progressive Insurance ECSTAR Suzuki’s Ken Roczen recovered from an early mistake to pass his way up to third place. The event kicks off the season-long Love Moto Stop Cancer text-to-donate campaign as well as Ken Roczen’s Kickstart for a Cause bike sweepstakes, both to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. In the Western Regional 250SX Class, Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Jordon Smith followed up last week’s second-place finish to earn the top spot at round two.

“Leading the race in a mud situation, it’s obviously where you want to be because you’re not getting roosted, but it also seems like it lasts forever. The first couple laps when I was by myself and I wasn’t dealing with lapped traffic it felt, not easy, but I had a good flow and was able to hit my lines. Then once we got into lapped traffic, that’s when the race kinda starts and being able to pick around those guys is key… It’s tough not to make a mistake out there but I was fairly consistent every lap and was pretty happy with how consistent I was.” – Chase Sexton.

“It was tough. It was like, it started out really thick, and then it stayed thick enough even with all that water. A lot of times when it’s just pure rain the whole time it’s not too bad because the ruts don’t get super deep and you’re kinda just spraying it around. But this one… I went in [an inside rut] one time and got stuck for like a second or two. It was one of those tracks where it was just heavy dirt, super deep ruts. And then there was another time in the second rhythm section I almost looped out because I grabbed a handful of throttle and hung off the back. But this was one of the tougher ones.” – Eli Tomac, describing the conditions as some of the toughest he’s faced in supercross.

“My mindset was [focused on] getting going. As soon as I got going I’m like, ‘Okay, this is 15 minutes, this is enough time, with people struggling going left and right… we can still make something happen.’ So I really just put my head down and charged forward. I was kinda blown away and really happy at the same time that I caught up to the field quick and was able to just pick people off left and right… I just wanted to go and go and kinda try to have fun with it.” – Ken Roczen, describing his race after a mistake after the first turn set him well back in the field.

The Western Regional 250SX Class held its second round and Jordon Smith took over the red plate and a five point lead in the 10-round championship. Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Levi Kitchen landed on the podium again, this time moving up one spot to earn second place. Muc-Off FXR ClubMX Yamaha’s Garrett Marchbanks had to work hard for his third place finish after rounding the first lap in seventh place.

“I’ve been pretty bad in mud races in my pro career, especially lately. At the mudder in New Jersey last year I did terrible, I think I got 18th. At High Point [motocross] in the mud I did not do good there, either. And we got here today and Bobby [Regan, the team owner] was like, “Jordon, I’ve seen you ride in the mud, you just need to try to survive today and get as many points as you can’. And I was like, ‘All right Bobby, I’m going to try to prove you wrong, but you’re kinda right.’ I do feel like I’ve gotten better in the mud… I think riding outdoors last year helped me.” – Jordon Smith

“The bike felt pretty good. That was the first time it’s ever really seen any rain at all or water. I did really well. After practice I just basically stiffened my fork as much as it would go, dropped it in the clamps, just kinda made the front end light so I could kinda ride around that way and yeah, it felt really good.” – Levi Kitchen, who switched to a new team and bike for 2024.

“I honestly didn’t know what position I was in the whole race. The first lap I fell over and was basically dead last. I was just covered and mud and didn’t know what was going on so I just basically pushed the whole way through and saw Phil [Nicoletti, a teammate] and didn’t know what position we were in, so I was like, ‘Maybe I’ll just try to get another guy and keep myself in the points hunt for a title…’ I was pretty happy for the third and yeah, it was exciting.” – Garrett Marchbanks

Round 2 kicked off the Love Moto Stop Cancer text-to-donate campaign which continues the sport’s partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Fans can text “SUPER” to 785-833 or click here to join racers and fans in supporting this great cause.

The series heads south to San Diego for Round 3 inside Snapdragon Stadium on January 20th. Each round pays championship points to both the 17-round Monster Energy Supercross series and the 31-round SuperMotocross World Championship. Doors open at 10:30AM local time. The racing starts earlier this year and opening ceremonies kick-off the San Diego action at 8:00 PM Eastern Time.

All 31 SuperMotocross World Championship rounds (which entail all 17 Monster Energy AMA Supercross rounds) will be streamed live on Peacock. Select rounds will be broadcast or streamed domestically on NBC, USA Network, CNBC, NBCSports.com, and the NBC Sports app. All season long, CNBC will air next-day encore presentations of each SuperMotocross event. Can You Tow a Car from Private Property in Brisbane

Towing a vehicle from private property in Brisbane is not as simple as calling a tow truck. There’s understanding required of the legal framework, authorisation, towing procedures, potential legal consequences, and proposing alternative solutions for illegally parked vehicles .

Understanding Towing Regulations in Queensland

In Queensland, towing on private property is governed by the state government. Since April 2018, TMR established guidelines  governing towing from private car parks and roads.

These regulations are to ensure that towing adhere to procedure and ethical practices. If you’re seeking removal of an unauthorised vehicle, these regulations are essential.

Key Factors for Towing

Before towing, explicit permission must happen from the property owner or authorised person. This step is not a formality; it’s a legal prerequisite. Without proper authorisation, engaging in towing can have severe consequences.

Property owners and Brisbane towing providers should ensure that towing is done through due diligence. This collaboration includes communicated permission, often facilitated through appropriate signage. Neglecting this step can result in fines and potential legal actions.

Towing Process and Best Practices

Towing involves a series of steps that must be undertaken with precision and care. A step-by-step guide ensures that the process is compliant with Queensland regulations.

The towing process should begin with a thorough understanding of safety measures and proper procedures. Towing a vehicle, especially from private property, necessitates a delicate touch to avoid damage to the towed vehicle and surrounding property. This aligns with the broader aim of towing regulations, aimed to authorise but also ensure that the process is followed.

Compliance with Queensland regulations, particularly those outlined by TMR, is paramount throughout the entire towing process. This includes securing proper authorisation, adhering to safety measures, and following a standardised procedure.

The towing process involves several steps:

  1. First, secure explicit permission from the property owner or authorised personnel. This step is crucial and should be facilitated through clear signage, ensuring that everyone involved is on the same page.
  2. Second, adhere to safety measures and follow a standardised procedure. Towing necessitates a delicate approach to prevent damage to the towed vehicle and surrounding property. This aligns with the broader aim of towing regulations, emphasising responsible and safe practices.
  3. Third and lastly, throughout the process, compliance with Queensland regulations is essential. This includes securing proper authorisation, following safety measures, and adhering to a standardised procedure.

By simplifying the towing process, individuals and towing service providers can contribute to a towing landscape that is both legal and responsible.

Where Vehicles Can Park in Brisbane

Understanding parking regulations in Brisbane ensures smooth flow of traffic. Here’s a quick guide on where cars can and can’t park in unregulated parking areas within Brisbane.

Permissible Areas:

  • Designated parking spots (within the line markings)
  • In accordance with official signage
  • On the left-hand side of the road, as close to the curb as safely possible

Legal Requirements for Parking on Suburban Roads:

Leave 3 meters of clear roadway between your vehicle and other vehicles, dividing strips, traffic islands, and unbroken lane markings.

This ensures accessibility for large vehicles, such as garbage trucks, to pass between parked cars without causing damage.

Drivers cannot park their cars:

  • On private property without the owner’s permission
  • In a position that blocks or partially obstructs a driveway
  • On footpaths, bicycle paths, shared paths, nature strips, or traffic islands

Addressing Illegally Parked Cars:

  • If a car is blocking your driveway, roadway, footpath, or nature strip, you have options.
  • Report the issue to the police, providing details of the violation.
  • Report illegally or dangerously parked cars to the Brisbane City Council for appropriate action.
  • Submit a report to the Queensland Police regarding suspicious or potentially abandoned vehicles.

Legal Implications and Penalties for Unauthorised Towing

Engaging in unauthorised towing activities can have significant legal implications. The Queensland government has instituted measures to regulate towing after accidents, aiming to prevent exploitation by towing services and ensuring fair practices.

Unauthorised towing can result in financial penalties and legal actions against the individuals involved. The severity of legal consequences may vary, but they intend to deter unauthorised towing activities and maintain the integrity of the towing process. This underscores the need for individuals and towing service providers to be well-informed and compliant with Queensland regulations to avoid falling afoul of the law.

Understanding the legal landscape surrounding towing, particularly the consequences of unauthorised actions, is a simple matter of compliance; it is a safeguard against legal troubles. It reinforces the notion that towing, when conducted within the bounds of the law, serves a legitimate purpose, such as clearing accident sites .

Dealing with Illegally Parked Vehicles

While towing is a common solution for dealing with illegal vehicles, property owners have alternative actions at their disposal. These actions are crucial for situations where towing might not be the most appropriate or simple solution.

Property owners can explore options beyond towing, such as reporting vehicles to local authorities. This alternative approach aligns with the broader goal of maintaining order on private property without resorting to towing immediately. Proper signage is another important aspect, as it forms a clear communication channel with individuals parking on private property.

Understanding rights and available actions empowers property owners to address unauthorised parking. This is vital in fostering a collaborative approach between property owners, towing service providers, and individuals, creating an environment where towing is a well-informed and compliant practice.

Ensuring Legal Towing Practices

Towing a car from private property in Brisbane is a process that goes beyond towing. It requires an understanding of the legal framework, authorisation processes, towing procedures, the potential legal consequences, and consideration of alternative solutions for parked vehicles.

Navigating this complex landscape demands technical expertise but a commitment to towing practices and compliance with Queensland regulations.  Property owners, towing service providers, and individuals involved in towing must collaborate to create a towing landscape that is both legal and responsible.

LEXINGTON, N.C. (January 13, 2023) – Kaulig Racing announced today that Cirkul, a one-size-fits-all beverage, will expand its partnership with the team and Daniel Hemric, signing on for 19 races for the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) season.

Cirkul and Kaulig Racing began their partnership during the 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) season, with the innovative water bottle and cartridge company serving as the primary partner on Hemric’s No. 11 Chevrolet for 10 races. It expanded in 2023 with Cirkul once again backing Hemric, this time for 14 races, in the NXS.

“We are really excited to further amplify our partnership with Kaulig Racing,” said Andy Gay, President, and Co-Founder of Cirkul. “We have really enjoyed the last two seasons and love seeing Cirkul bottles in everyone’s hands at the racetrack. We feel that making the jump with Daniel [Hemric] back to the Cup Series is the right move as we continue to grow our brand.”

In addition to its partnership with Hemric during the 2022 and 2023 NXS seasons, Cirkul acted as the primary partner on Hemric’s No. 16 Camaro ZL1 during the 2022 NCS season at Daytona International Speedway, during which Hemric competed in a limited schedule. Cirkul went on to make two appearances on the team’s No. 31 Camaro ZL1 during the 2023 NCS season.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Cirkul back this year in an even bigger capacity than they have ever been,” said Chris Rice, president of Kaulig Racing. We’ve had the opportunity to connect with our friends at Cirkul on so many different levels, including a friendship with Andy [Gay] and Garrett [Waggoner]. Cirkul has not only bought into our program, but they believe in Daniel Hemric as much as we do.”

Hemric and Cirkul’s partnership will kick off at the Busch Lite Clash at the Coliseum on February 4 on FOX. Hemric will attempt to race his way into the main event in the No. 31 Cirkul Camaro ZL1.

“Having Cirkul alongside me and supporting me in my return to the Cup Series means the world,” said Hemric. “They have played a huge role in getting me where I am today, and it means a lot to me and the rest of our team to have partners who are as passionate as we are to compete at the top level of NASCAR.”

Following the Clash, Hemric and Cirkul will compete in the 66th running of the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway to open the 2024 NCS regular season.

Larry Heidler Wins 2024 Parker 400 Limited Race

Larry Heidler and Amplex Racing are the winners of the 2024 Parker 400 Limited Race, Friday’s segment of the first of three rounds in the inaugural UNLTD Off-Road Racing Series season. Teaming up with Ethan Groom, who drove the final lap, Heidler and the #PO986 Pro UTV Open team completed three laps of a grueling 142-mile course in the Arizona desert in 7:28:27, clearing runner-up Sierra Romo for the class and overall victories by nearly seven minutes. Class 5 winner Keith Waibel completed the overall podium.

Last year’s California 300 front-runners set the early pace for the event, as Barstow polesitter Bruce Binnquist qualified first in Thursday’s time trials and October winner Brayden Baker posted the fastest time through the first lap ahead of Heidler and UTV Pro class leader Austin Johnson. But many of the front-runners would shuffle throughout the event; Johnson wouldn’t complete his second lap, while Baker would fall out on the third while battling with Heidler for the overall lead.

The front-runners who made it to the finish, though, were in the mix all day. Besides Heidler, who spent all race in podium contention, Romo clawed her way from seventh overall at the end of the first lap into the top five on the second, and posted the fastest final lap of the race to settle into second. The UTV Pro battle came down to the evenly matched Christian Sourapas and Michael McFayden, who traded the top spot multiple times before Sourapas eventually secured the win by a minute and 22 seconds. Both racers would still land in the overall top five.

Riley Binnquist was the next class winner in sixth overall, conquering the UTV Pro Stock class by more than 20 minutes over Wes Miller as the final racer to finish in under eight hours. Just outside the overall top 10 were Class 10 winner Lance Webb and UTV Pro NA winner Doug MacLachlan. Open Sportsman winner Wade Porter was the fastest among the two-lap classes, with a time of 4:48:07.675 that was in fact faster than the overall winners through their first two laps.

Limited Race results from the 2024 Parker 400 were as follows:

  1. PO986 Larry Heidler, 7:28:27.212
  2. PO292 Sierra Romo, 7:35:07.252
  3. 527 Keith Waibel, 7:42:18.166
  4. P909 Christian Sourapas, 7:47:13.300
  5. P938 Michael McFayden, 7:48:35.649
  6. PS950 Riley Binnquist, 7:55:56.149
  7. PO946 Keith Schulz, 8:01:52.784
  8. P943 Steve Allen, 8:11:07.030
  9. PS970 Wes Miller, 8:16:03.919
  10. 522 Brandin Williams, 8:28:37.569
