Experience, continuity mark roster for two Cadillac V-LMDh cars in new prototype class

DETROIT (Sept. 20, 2022) – Four drivers with a passion for victory will seek to continue Cadillac’s rich heritage of winning on the racetrack in an exciting new era of IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship prototype racing.

Competing in the nine-race Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) schedule for 2023 in the all-new Cadillac V-LMDh race car:

Sebastien Bourdais (left) and Renger van der Zande will co-drive a Chip Ganassi Racing-prepared Cadillac V-LMDh.

Renger van der Zande and Sebastien Bourdais, who have co-driven the No. 01 V-Performance Academy Cadillac DPi-V.R to three victories this season in the top level of IMSA competition, will continue as teammates in a Chip Ganassi Racing-prepared Cadillac V-LMDh.

Reigning IMSA DPi Driver Champion Pipo Derani will be paired with multi-faceted British driver Alexander Sims in the sister Cadillac V-LMDh prepared by Action Express Racing.

Additional drivers for the two Cadillac Racing GTP entries for long-distance races on the 2023 IMSA schedule, which begins with the 61st Rolex 24 At Daytona on Jan. 28-29, will be announced later.

Cadillac will also compete in the Hypercar class of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) in 2023 as the sole U.S.-based manufacturer. Drivers of the Cadillac V-LMDh entry will be announced later for the schedule that includes the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The WEC season begins March 17 with the 1,000 Miles of Sebring in Florida.

“The new GTP class is set to create some of the most exciting competition in decades,” said Rory Harvey, Vice President Global Cadillac. “We look forward to seeing our world-class driver lineup in the Cadillac V-LMDh and we welcome Alexander Sims to Cadillac.”

Codeveloped by Cadillac Design, Cadillac Racing and chassis manufacturer Dallara, the Cadillac V-LMDh race car features an all-new Cadillac 5.5-liter DOHC V-8 engine developed by GM’s Performance and Racing propulsion team based in Pontiac, Michigan, which is mated to the LMDh spec energy recovery system to serve as Cadillac’s first hybrid prototype.

Sims, 34, from London, will make his IMSA prototype racing debut at Daytona International Speedway in the Cadillac V-LMDh but already is a member of the GM family.

Sims was the third driver in a Chevrolet Corvette C8.R entry in 2021 for the Rolex 24 At Daytona — finishing second in the GTLM class to the sister Corvette — the Twelve Hours of Sebring, the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the season-ending Petit Le Mans. He recorded the fastest race laps in class at Le Mans and the Petit Le Mans.

He rejoined the No. 64 Corvette team in June at Le Mans, where the entry earned the pole in the GTE Pro class. Sims recorded five victories and nine podium finishes in 25 IMSA GTLM races in 2017-18.

“I’m excited to be racing back in IMSA full time and to be driving the Cadillac V-LMDh. It’s an impressive piece of kit. I had a good couple of years with Corvette doing some GT racing, which brought me back to the IMSA paddock,” said Sims, who competed against Derani in Formula 3. “It’s racing that I absolutely adore. The format of the racing, the competitiveness, the tracks that we go to are brilliant.

“To be stepping across within the GM family to Cadillac in the top tier of racing with Action Express, which is a championship-winning team, is exciting for me.”

Derani, who clinched the 2021 driver title on the final laps of the Petit Le Mans, has posted six wins in the Cadillac DPi-V.R since joining Action Express Racing for the 2019 season. Overall, Derani has made 59 starts in IMSA prototype competition since 2016.

“As a driver, it’s a fantastic opportunity to be a part of a program of the future of endurance racing. To join Cadillac as a factory driver is a dream come true,” Derani said.

Sims and Derani recently participated in development sessions of the Cadillac V-LMDh at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta and Watkins Glen International.

Van der Zande has registered eight IMSA victories in a Cadillac DPi-V.R since 2018 and is completing his first season sharing the seat with Bourdais.

Bourdais, the four-time INDYCAR champion, has four wins in a Cadillac DPi-V.R, including the Twelve Hours of Sebring in 2021 with JDC-Miller Motorsports. Bourdais has driven to four pole starts this season in the No. 01 V-Performance Academy Cadillac DPi-V.R.

“The development has started on the new car and we’re trying to take it to as many places as possible and I’ve been I’ve been a part of that since the beginning,” Bourdais said. “It’s something I very much enjoy, developing a new car, it’s a bit like a new baby. You kind of put your mark on it and give your feedback and dream to develop it in a way where you feel one with the car. We have a very strong base and Cadillac and Dallara have done a great job. It’s a very exciting program and a very exciting new era for endurance racing.”

Five Cadillac DPi-V.R entries – including cars driven by Bourdais, van der Zande and Derani — will seek to win the Oct. 1 Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta to conclude the DPi era.

The Cadillac DPi-V.R has recorded 27 victories – tops among all manufacturers – in the six seasons covering 58 races heading into the final event of the season.

What they’re saying

Renger van der Zande: “I’m really excited to stay with Chip Ganassi Racing and Cadillac where I’ve been driving since 2018. These are the brands I’ve been with for a long time and it’s where I feel very comfortable because we have the same goals and mentality of how to approach racing and how to win.

“I’m thrilled to stay with Seb. We had a full season together and we complement each other very well on and off track in terms of cooperation so that’s something where it’s a very automatic and a pleasure to continue working with him.

“It’s a new era coming up with Cadillac’s V-LMDh where we’re taking on big fights against other manufacturers who have been at it for a long time and competing in Le Mans each year. We’re trying to go in there and win it with an all-new car and technologies. It’s an amazing project to be part of from the beginning. Everybody is super motivated to develop the car, work on the systems, work on the team, get the right people in place because it’s a bit of a bigger project than the DPI was and there’s a lot more to it with everything being new. There’s a lot to figure out but it’s really cool to see the energy within the team to move forward and we’re part of history here.”

Sebastien Bourdais: “I’m super happy to be back with Chip Ganassi Racing and the Cadillac racing program. It’s super exciting times for endurance racing in general so I couldn’t be happier to keep the relationship going. The cars are really cool and the competition is going to be really high across multiple championships and series.

“I think Renger and I complement each other really well. It’s been a very fruitful relationship and we get along really well. I think our driving styles are somewhat different, but we very easily find the common ground on setups and if one of us doesn’t feel super, super strong, we always feel safe because we know the other one can carry the load. That’s a very, very good thing in a partnership with a teammate like that. Our relationship is only going to build and get stronger and I can’t wait to take it to the next level and win many more races with him.

“The LMDh cars have quite a bit more power, a bit less downforce and a bit more weight. Overall, I think it’s going to be very close as far as the times are concerned compared to the DPIs. We’ll have great battles and really close racing, so I can’t wait to get going.”

Pipo Derani: “As a driver, it’s a fantastic opportunity to be a part of a program of the future of endurance racing. To join Cadillac as a factory driver is a dream come true.

“I’ve been with Action Express Racing since 2019 and we’ve developed a great relationship in terms of knowing each other really well, working together and understanding from each other what we need to succeed. It’s a big pleasure to be staying on with Action Express and a big pleasure to be representing the Cadillac brand that has given me most of my wins and championships in the DPi era.

“To be moving on to a bigger step and representing the brand as a factory driver starting in 2023 is great and a story that continues to grow into great things.

“I hope we can continue to achieve fantastic results and to keep Cadillac on the top step where it belongs. Alexander has lots of experience with electric and hybrid vehicles, which will add a lot to our team. We don’t have the luxury with the development of the new car to go through an adaptation time. We need to hit the ground running and Alexander will allow us to do just that.”

Alexander Sims: “I’m excited to be racing back in IMSA full time and to be driving the Cadillac V-LMDh. Over the last couple of years with Corvette I’ve gotten to know (GM sports car racing program manager) Laura Klauser and others within the GM motorsports family, and they have been brilliant to work with. To be able to continue that relationship while now working day in and day out with Action Express is a great feeling and I’m looking forward to the future.

“My last few years have been in Formula E, so from a technical perspective I hope I can bring some of that experience into this hybrid era of sports car racing. I’ve looked up to Pipo for many years in the level of racing that he’s been able to win in. It’s a lovely opportunity for me to be getting back to the racing that I love and doing alongside him. We raced in F3 together, so we’ve always been battling against each other, and I’ve always had a deep respect for what he does.

“Really looking forward to working with him. To be able to have a solid testing program is important from an engineering and technical perspective, but just as important from the human side is to spend some time getting to know each other in less pressure situations.”

Organized by Good Design Australia, the Australian Good Design Awards has been promoting excellence in design and innovation since 1958 and is recognized by the World Design Organization (WDO) as Australia’s peak international design endorsement program. This year, design projects from around the world were evaluated against criteria for excellence, innovation and impact in design by a jury of more than 70 international design experts.

Inside, Mitsubishi Motors carefully selected materials to enhance the premium feel, while the horizontally-sculpted instrument panel, which makes it easy to understand the position of the car while driving, adds a feeling of robustness and spaciousness.

4 Tips For Getting More Cash For Your Junk Car

Are you having trouble getting the greatest price for your junk car? Do you want the junk or undesirable car that is annoying your neighbors removed from the driveway?

People who wish to get rid of their junk for cash for cars frequently place ads on classified websites, in newspapers, or call various junk car removal companies listed in business directories or on roadside billboards that read “We Buy Any Car For Cash.” But while everyone wants to purchase anything for the lowest price possible, doing so can occasionally mean a significant loss for those looking to sell their unwanted or junk cars. Because these trash car buyers frequently make lowball offers to sellers, selling a junk automobile for cash can be challenging.

Consider the following advice to steer clear of this offer and sell your trash car for the highest price possible:

  1. Research Market Price

Being realistic when selecting a price for your trash automobile is the greatest approach to appeal to the widest possible audience of customers. Realistically pricing your junk automobile can help you attract more buyers and is the best defense against lowball offers. You must conduct some market research for this reason in order to be informed of the most recent price trends in the market for steel, metal, and used car components. To earn the most payout, play fairly.

  1. Understand What You’re Selling

The year, make, and model of the car you’re trying to get rid of will play a big role in how much the junk removal businesses are willing to charge you. If you are interested in cash for cars head over to 1800 Salvage. You must be fully knowledgeable about the vehicle you wish to sell. Your car, for instance, may sustain external damage, but if it is still operable, it is worth more. Selling junk cars with salvageable components are paid far more than fully-demolished vehicles. Negotiations with your junk auto removal firm should be conducted with composure, knowledge, and calmness. You’ll be able to acquire a fair price for your car if you have strong negotiating abilities and the necessary facts.

  1. Advertisement

Selling garbage cars will be mostly dependent on advertising. Ads must be eye-catching and include details about the vehicle, such as images, a description of its features, and information about the seller. These days, advertising your junk automobiles for removal on online marketplaces for trash car removal businesses is really helpful. You can post the specifics of your car for free and request pricing quotes from junk car removal businesses. By using this, you may quickly find junk car removal firms in your nation.

  1. Several Price Quotes

To receive their offers, you must get in touch with as many junk auto removal businesses as you can within your zip code. You can compare their deals this way and choose the best one. You must consider whether or not a buyer offers free towing or removal while evaluating them. Always try to work with junk car removal businesses that have received positive feedback from other sellers. Real sellers can give feedback to a trash car removal business they’ve worked with on online marketplaces.

Betting on NASCAR for Beginners

Are you a fan of cars? Do you enjoy the thrill of driving and money? When you combine these three things, you get Nascar betting. Nascar betting is a great way to enjoy racing and make a profit by betting on your favorite drivers. If you are interested in giving it a try and want to succeed, keep reading. We’ll be sharing some tips and tricks to help you place proper bets regardless of your previous Nascar knowledge.

What is the best way to qualify for a race?

Drivers must qualify and meet all requirements before they can race in a NASCAR race. They will also need to qualify in order to be eligible for the race. With three qualifying rounds, they will drive until they are happy with their lap times. 36 charter slots must be filled. There are four races for non-charter vehicles. This number may vary slightly depending on the season and qualifications of drivers.

Tips to improve your betting skills

1. Learn more about the drivers

It is important to research the sport and learn about the betting side of it. If this is your first viewing, you should rewatch previous episodes and pay attention to new faces and years. This is similar to betting on basketball or football on NetBet Casino. Some drivers are more successful on specific tracks than others, while others have a lot of experience. Take a deep breath and make sure you do your research.

2. There are many options available to you.

Because there are many options and routes you can take, betting isn’t as easy as it sounds. These are some of the most popular:

You can find an overall winner with this bet. You will make a substantial profit if you choose 2-3 favorite players (as long their odds are reasonable).

Matchups: These bets pit one driver against another, and the winner is the driver who finishes higher. You’ll often be left with a -110 or -150 proposition.

Future bets are available before or after the field has been selected. These will require some knowledge about the track and its players.

3. Place your bets on a manufacturer

This is a great feature to place your bets on, especially if the cars are familiar and you love adrenaline. Which manufacturer do you prefer? And which manufacturer has won the award in the past year? These facts are useful and practical. However, you don’t need to be a mechanic to understand the information. You can do simple maths to figure it out. These odds are determined based on the number of cars in a particular race and who is driving them. It’s worth reading the entire document to see which model is most prominent. Then, place your bet. You will know your chances of winning.

4. Bet on props

Props are a great way to have fun without worrying about the drivers or teams you love. You may prefer something simpler than betting on lap times or a driver. Prop betting allows you to bet on any prop available for the race and day. You can bet on the number and speed of the caution flags, as well as the laps that the winner will lead. This is a great feature to have if you want to enjoy the game and make some extra cash.

5. Check the weather

This is a crucial factor to consider, especially when the weather looks gloomy. Turn on your weather app to see what it has to say. Weather can be unpredictable and can cause problems if it is interfering with your race. We must also remember that stats can change. A colder temperature means that the engine will be able to take in more cool air, and a slippery track can cause a crash. You would know how other drivers have performed in the past and what weather conditions affected them.

Bryson Lew Selected as Contender in Lamborghini Young Drivers Program

MORAGA, Calif., (September 19, 2022) – At just 19 years old, race car driver Bryson Lew is finding big opportunities for himself in the world of professional sports car racing. The California native and points leader in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America championship has been selected as one of fifteen drivers to participate in the Lamborghini Young Driver program. Created as a development opportunity for Lamborghini Super Trofeo drivers between the ages of 17 and 26, the program culminates with a final selection shootout held at Portimão Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, following the 2022 Super Trofeo Finals (November 5-6).

“Thank you so much to Lamborghini Squadra Corse for this amazing opportunity,” said Lew. “I’m absolutely honored to be selected for the Lamborghini Young Driver Program. It’s been a dream to be racing in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo series. As one of three drivers from the United States, I’m working hard to represent this outstanding manufacturer.”

Lew will depart for Italy in early October to undergo intensive assessments at Automobili Lamborghini headquarters in Sant’Agata Bolognese. Located about 81 miles north of Florence, the Italian manufacturer’s base will be the site of the next round of evaluations and challenges for the 15 participants of the Young Drivers Program. Following the assessments, the field of 15 candidates will be reduced to just six, who will then compete in the November shootout.

“I’m extremely excited to check out the breathtaking Lamborghini Factory,” said Lew. “It’s an honor to be invited out to train at one of the best facilities. I’ve been preparing countless hours to show them everything I have. My training includes the racing simulator, weight training, running, and mountain biking.”

Currently balancing his progressing racing career and his full-time studies at the University of Utah, Lew is no stranger to hard work. The young racer started racing at eight years old, building a long and impressive resume in karts before moving up to formula cars in his early teen years. Seeking to advance up the motorsport ranks, he received his SCCA full competition license at age 14. In 2020, Lew began to lay the groundwork for his sports car career in North America, racing in the SRO America-sanctioned TC America series, and earned three podiums in seven races. The following season, he advanced to GT4 racing, taking part in SRO’s highly competitive GT4 America championship.

For the 2022 season, Lew climbed the ladder once again, joining the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America series, driving a Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 with Precision Performance Motorsports (PPM). Racing in the Pro/Am class with John Dubets, the pair have had a remarkable season, winning six of the 10 North American rounds. Lew and Dubets have momentum on their side heading into the final two rounds at Portimão Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in November. With four consecutive wins and an 11-point lead over second place, the PPM drivers have the advantage for the finale event.

“It’s definitely been a tough year so far, competing against some high caliber drivers,” said Lew. “Luckily, at Road America and Virginia International Raceway we were able to win all four races. This moved us into the lead for the championship going into our final races at Portugal in November. With racing, anything can happen so we’ll prepare as best as we can, and I look forward to racing in Europe again.”

Schedule and tune in information for the World Finals will be announced at a later date.

Following the World Finals, the final six drivers in the Lamborghini Young Driver Program will take part in the two-day shootout, which will include physical training, driving skills, and mental preparation. The winners of the shootout will receive official support from Lamborghini Squadra Corse for the 2023 season, leading to increased professional sports car racing opportunities for the talented young drivers.

The Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 500 (2:30 p.m. CT, TV: USA Network, Radio: SiriusXM Ch. 90, PRN, 95.9 The Ranch locally) will be the opening race of the second playoff round that also includes Talladega Superspeedway (Oct. 2) and the Charlotte ROVAL (Oct. 9).

Four drivers – Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch, Austin Dillon and Tyler Reddick – were eliminated after the Round of 16, leaving a dozen still in contention heading into the second of four rounds in the elimination-style playoff format.

The 12 drivers are Chase Elliott, Kyle Larson, William Byron and Alex Bowman of Hendrick Motorsports; Joey Logano, Ryan Blaney and Austin Cindric of Team Penske; Denny Hamlin and Christopher Bell of Joe Gibbs Racing; Ross Chastain and Daniel Suarez of Trackhouse Racing; and Chase Briscoe of Stewart-Haas Racing.

Here’s the “Fast Five Things To Watch For” in the Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 500:

  1. RYAN BLANEY opens the Round of 12 as the eighth seed but Texas Motor Speedway could get him off to a fast start. The Team Penske driver won the NASCAR All-Star Race there in May and has been strong of late in the points-paying races at the 1.5-mile oval as well. He will look to follow the pattern established last season by Larson, who won the debut of the NASCAR All-Star Race at Texas and then went on to dominate the playoff race by leading 256 of the 334 laps. Blaney also has finished eighth or better in his last four points-paying starts and seven of the last eight, including three among the top five during that stretch. He finished a personal-best of second in this race in 2018 and was sixth last year.
  2. KEVIN HARVICK and KYLE BUSCH were eliminated from playoff contention following the Round of 16 but expect the duo to potentially impact this race given their career success at Texas and zero concern about points racing to advance. Harvick recorded three consecutive wins in this fall playoff race from 2017-19 and has reeled off 13 top-10 finishes in his last 14 starts overall at Texas Motor Speedway. He has an average finishing position of 9.7 buoyed by a track-record 24 top-10 finishes. Busch is tied with Carl Edwards for the second-most Cup wins at TMS with four and ranks second in career laps led (1,069). He arrives on a run of five consecutive points-paying, top-10 finishes at Texas, including a win in this event in 2020. Busch also looked strong in the NASCAR All-Star Race, winning Stage 1 and leading every lap of the race – 47 in all – at the time he had a tire issue that resulted in a race-ending accident with Chastain.
  3. The 16 playoff contenders were shut out in the opening round as non-playoff drivers won all three races. ERIK JONES won the opener at Kansas and was followed by victories from BUBBA WALLACE at Kansas and Prosper, Texas native CHRIS BUESCHER at Bristol this past Saturday night. No playoff driver was able to automatically advance to the next round by virtue of a win and that placed a premium on points. That streak could possibly extend to four races with the likes of Busch and Harvick out of contention and looming.
  4. CHASE ELLIOTT opens the Round of 12 as the top seed and is hopeful that he is beginning to trend in the right direction at Texas Motor Speedway. He finished seventh in last year’s playoff race at Texas to snap a run of four consecutive points-paying races there without a top-10 finish. His best finish at Texas is fourth, which came in this event in 2016. Elliott also has not led a lap in his last four starts at TMS and has just 44 in 11 career points-paying starts. However, he has been solid in qualifying with starting positions of eighth or better in four of his last five visits.
  5. Only three drivers – DENNY HAMLIN, KYLE LARSON and JOEY LOGANO – are among the 12 playoff contenders who have previously won a points-paying race at Texas Motor Speedway. Larson was the most recent of the trio, winning the 2021 playoff race wire to wire in dominating fashion. Hamlin is a three-time winner with his most recent coming in the 2019 spring race. Logano registered his win in the spring of 2014.

Texas Motor Speedway will play host to the 2022 NASCAR Playoffs this weekend. The NASCAR Playoffs doubleheader will be highlighted by the NASCAR Xfinity Series Andy’s Frozen Custard 300 on Saturday (2:30 p.m. CT on USA Network, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Ch. 90, and PRN), and the NASCAR Cup Series Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 500 on Sunday (2:30 p.m. CT on USA Network, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Ch. 90, PRN, and 95.9 The Ranch).

The newly renovated Lil’ Texas Motor Speedway 1/5-mile dirt track will kick off the weekend of racing with the inaugural C. Bell’s MICRO MANIA. The four-day event (Sept. 21-24) features practice on Wednesday, qualifying races Thursday and Friday, and mains and finals Saturday. Micro Sprints are smaller versions of full-sized sprint cars with side-mounted 600cc motorcycle engines that can generate 140 horsepower with similar chassis and body styles to the larger versions. NASCAR stars currently confirmed to participate include Christopher Bell, two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch and his son Brexton Busch, Sheldon Creed, Daniel Hemric, Brett Moffitt, and John Hunter Nemechek.

Follow A Dream looks to Virginia for the Championship

Victory is Close for The Dream Team

MARSTONS MILLS, Massachusetts (September 19, 2022)

Winston Churchill said, “Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it’s the courage to continue that counts.” That quote certainly resonates with Jay Blake and the Follow A Dream Team after this past weekend’s Pep Boy’s NHRA Nationals in Mohnton, Pennsylvania.
It’s no secret that Maple Grove is Jay’s favorite track, and the reason is simple, its where Jay first dreamed up the crazy idea to start a race team despite becoming totally blind. After over 20+ years at the helm of his Top Alcohol Funny Car team, that is the one Wally that has eluded the Dream Team.

“I can’t really put into words what it would mean to me to win there, I’ve been chasing it for so long, and I guess it would feel like finally conquering the mountain.” said Blake of the continued pursuit.

The team did briefly taste victory after a few rounds of Qualifiers that didn’t quite go as planned. The first qualifier was a shut down due to an ignition problem that was solved by Q2. The second round of Qualifiers earned a 5.72 at 261 mph. The racecar shook the tires for several feet leaving heavy wheelie bar marks behind it. Tuner Anthony Terenzio and Team Consultant Rich Bozzelli had the kinks worked out by Q3 and the team was satisfied with the 5.51 at 266 mph that the final round of qualifiers yielded.

Saturday’s first round of eliminations brought early victory and stoked the team’s enthusiasm as Burkart screamed past Gawlik Sgro in the

Permatextraining.com funny car with a winning 5.54 at 264 mph to Brian Gawlik’s 5.63 at 258 mph.

Unfortunately, the momentum didn’t continue, and The Dream Team was bested in an incredibly close second round loss by DJ Cox’ s 5.47 at 267 mph to Phil Burkart’s 5.51 at 264 mph.

Now its on to Virginia for the teams last race of the year and one more chance to clinch The Eastern Region Championship!
Jay Blakes’s speaking program continues to flourish with Blake and some of his crew heading out for a presentation at Reading Muhlenberg Vocational Technical School before the races this past weekend. Blake smiled as the freightliner rolled out of the school heading for the track, “The racing is great, I mean really fantastic, who doesn’t love to win, but it’s the lives that we change that really makes this dream worth dreaming!” Well said, Jay!
