Nolan Siegel Joins Jr III Racing for Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen

Mooresville, NC (14 June 2022) – Jr III Racing has completed its roster for the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen, round three of the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup with the addition of rising Road to Indy star Nolan Siegel. The driver duo of Garett Grist and Ari Balogh will be joined by Siegel in the No. 30 Airbnb Ligier JS P320 on June 26 for the annual six hour classic.

The up-and-coming open-wheel driver made his IMSA WeatherTech debut earlier this year in the renowned Rolex 24 At Daytona where he raced to a sixth place finish in the LMP3 category.

Last season Siegel competed in four IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge races in the GS category which saw the young racer take a best finish of sixth at Lime Rock Park as well as getting his first run at Watkins Glen International.

Siegel will continue to add to his racing resume having already clinched the 2018 SimRaceway F3 championship. The 18 year old racer currently competes in the Indy Pro 2000 Championship where he has claimed two wins, two poles and two additional podium finishes so far in the 2022 season.

Before joining the Indy Pro 2000 ranks, Siegel began in karting and worked his way through the USF2000 Championship from 2019 to 2021 which saw him score his first victory at the New Jersey Motorsports Park last season.

The Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen will be Siegel’s second race at Watkins Glen International as he looks forward to returning to an LMP3 car in the midst of his Indy Pro 2000 season.

“I’m really excited to start with Jr III at Watkins Glen,” said Siegel. “It will be my first race with the team and we had a successful test there. I’m really thankful Ari and Billy (Glavin, Jr III Team Owner) have given me the opportunity to drive with the team, and it will be a pleasure working with them this weekend.”

Jr III Racing has continued to grow its program to maintain campaigns in both the IMSA Prototype Challenge series as well as the championship-leading IMSA WeatherTech program.

“I’m really excited to bring Nolan on,” said Glavin. “He did great at Daytona in the Mühlner car, and he knows Garett (Grist) from his open wheel days. Obviously with him winning at St. Pete and at Barber this year, it showed that he’s definitely got the pace we need. He has IMSA experience in the LMP3 as well as Watkins Glen experience in GT4, so we thought it’d be a good fit. We tested with him last week, and he fit right in with the team, had a great attitude and was comfortable in the car. Good pace, and we’re looking forward to seeing what he can do.”

The Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen will be the second endurance event for Jr III Racing in the 2022 IMSA WeatherTech season. Having skipped out on the first endurance round at Daytona, Jr III Racing came back strong at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring which saw the team score a second place finish.

Siegel will team up with Jr III Racing for the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen on Sunday, June 26 which is set for a green flag start at 10:40am ET.

Entenmann’s® Donuts Promotes Dads of Glory with JTG Daugherty Racing at Nashville

Ricky Stenhouse Jr.’s No. 47 Camaro features Entenmann’s Donuts promotion with an in-car camera and in-race billboard on NBC as $50,000 and free donuts are on the line.

Harrisburg, N.C. (June 14, 2022) – – Entenmann’s Donuts cleverly created an ultimate way to celebrate Dads and Father Figures with “Dads of Glory: A Father Figure Showcase” at DadsofGlory.com. The contest is being showcased on Ricky Stenhouse Jr.’s No. 47 Camaro ZL1 at Nashville Superspeedway on June 26th and $50,000 is up for grabs along with free donuts.

“We can’t think of a sweeter way to celebrate Father’s Day than by helping our fans honor the dads and father figures, regardless of gender, that have helped inspire them,” said Jason Amar, Director of Marketing at Entenmann’s. “We are so excited to have Ricky’s support to promote this program and help us recognize all father figures that have made a positive impact in our fans’ lives.”

Stenhouse Jr. recently mentioned how easy it is for consumers to enter the contest. Simply share a video clip at DadsofGlory.com to showcase why your dad or father figure is a Dad of Glory across one of five Dad-egories that include: Dad Humor, Dad Feats, Dad Engineering, Dad Fashion and Dad Love.

“This is a simple and fun way to honor your father or father figure in your life,” said Stenhouse Jr. “This promotion makes me think of all the times my dad worked so hard to give me and family the opportunity to live a good life and get me to a place to where I was able to be successful at racing. It’s special to look back at all the hard work he put into my racing career. Because of him, I put the same work ethic into my craft.”

The DadsofGlory.com contest has really stirred up some good memories that Stenhouse Jr. and his father have shared through the years.

“He’s someone I look up to and I remember all the times riding dirt bikes together every Sunday after church,” said Stenhouse Jr. “I remember him getting my first go-kart right in the foyer for Christmas and us going to the racetrack and basically saying I was six years old so I could race when I was actually five. I almost messed it up because I would be at the counter telling them I wasn’t six.

“I remember when I won my first stock car race in ARCA (2008) and we climbed the fence to meet each other at the top of it,” continued Stenhouse Jr. “For my first Sprint car win, he jumped on the side of the race car and we did a victory lap together. There are a lot of cool moments we’ve shared, but just getting to spend time together is the best.”

Speaking of spending time together, Entenmann’s is making sure fans have an opportunity to meet Stenhouse Jr. On Friday, June 24th the Olive Branch, Mississippi native is appearing at the Kroger store located at 1418 West Main Street, Lebanon, Tennessee kicking off at 11 AM Central for a meet and greet/autograph session.

“Entenmann’s is fully engaged with the race team using their racing assets to its full potential,” Stenhouse Jr. said. “It’s makes me happy to see their excitement and engagement with the team and our fans like they do. I’m looking forward to seeing our fans.”

Live coverage of the Ally 400 at Nashville Superspeedway on Sunday, June 26th begins at 4 PM Central/5 PM Eastern on NBC, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

Notes of Interest

● The NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol (Tenn.) Dragway hosts the ninth event on the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series’ 22-race calendar. Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) brings its two fulltime entries – one in Top Fuel for nine-time event winner Leah Pruett and one in Funny Car for three-time Funny Car champion Matt Hagan.

● Pruett and Hagan come into Bristol representing Mobil 1 and TruHarvest Farms, respectively. Pruett’s Top Fuel dragster carries the colors of Mobil 1, the world’s leading synthetic motor oil brand. Meanwhile, Hagan’s Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Funny Car is emblazoned with TruHarvest Farms, Southwest Virginia’s largest producer of hemp-based products. TruHarvest Farms was founded in 2019 by Hagan. Sourced from its Christiansburg, Virginia location, TruHarvest Harms offers a comprehensive line of high-quality, hemp-derived CBD products that promote general health and wellness for individuals seeking an alternative to medications and supplements.

● The NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals will mark Pruett’s 180th career Top Fuel start and her ninth at Bristol. For Hagan, the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals will be his 302nd career Funny Car start and his 13th at Bristol.

● Pruett is looking for her first victory at the Thunder Valley Nationals. She has advanced to the finals once at Bristol in 2017, where her 3.881 ET at 307.09 mph run was bested by Clay Millican (3.825 ET at 316.38 mph). Pruett is seeking her first No. 1 qualifier at Bristol.

● Hagan enters Bristol as Funny Car’s most recent winner. The Christiansburg, Virginia-native scored his 42nd career win June 5 in the NHRA New England Nationals at New England Dragway in Epping, New Hampshire. The victory was Hagan’s fourth win in the last five NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series events at Epping (2017, 2018, 2019 and 2022).

● Hagan’s win at Epping expanded his lead in the Funny Car championship standing to 41 points over his nearest pursuer, Robert Hight.

● Hagan has one career win at Bristol in 2015 (4.164 ET at 303.23 mph) when he defeated Ron Capps (4.186 ET at 307.02 mph). He also advanced to the finals in 2016, but his 4.030 ET at 317.57 mph run fell short of the one from Tommy Johnson Jr. (4.038 ET at 313.22 mph). Hagan is seeking his first No. 1 qualifier at the event.

● Hagan is the current track record holder at Bristol for speed with a run of 330.34 mph, a mark he set on Oct. 16, 2021.

● DYK? Bristol Dragway is a 30,000 capacity drag racing facility located next to Bristol Motor Speedway. It was originally built in 1965, making 2022 its 57th anniversary. It is often called “Thunder Valley” due to the acoustics created by its location between two mountains. This season marks the first time all four NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series classes – Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle – have appeared together at Thunder Valley during the same weekend.

Leah Pruett, Driver of the Mobil 1 Top Fuel Dragster

With Bristol Dragway being located between two mountains, is that what makes the track so special?

“Experiencing a nitro race at Bristol is like none other. It might be a two-wide track, but it sounds and feels like a four-wide track with how intense the sounds of our Dodge HEMIs are firing off in the valley, echoing off the mountains. The pro pits are very close to the entire length of the track, with the main grandstands on the opposite side, so there’s not a time where you’re not feeling and hearing the action as if you’re on the line.”

How critical is lane choice at Bristol Dragway?

“Lane choice has been crucial in the past, for different reasons in different classes. A problematic area in one lane may give challenges to fuel cars, where pro stock sees challenges elsewhere. We know there have been some recent, great efforts to supply us with the smoothest surface possible, and I feel good about what we have to work with.”

How does Bristol’s unique environment affect the car’s tuning and setup?

“It’s no secret Bristol Dragway has some unique racing surface characteristics, which makes this even more of a tuner’s race when it comes to navigating where and when power is added in regard to the conditions.”

Matt Hagan, Driver of the TruHarvest Farms Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Funny Car

With Bristol Dragway being located between two mountains, is that what makes the track so special?

“Rolling into Bristol is always a special weekend for me because it’s usually on Father’s Day weekend. A lot of family and friends come out to the track, so when you can win there, it’s a big race. The last time I won it, it was probably one of my most emotional races. I had my kids and my dad there for Father’s Day. I’d love to be able to do that again. It’s close to home, so I grew up with a lot of the same people watching at local drag strips. You want to be able to put on a show for everyone. I’m excited to get to Bristol. It’s only two hours away from my house, so hopefully we can keep the momentum going and get those win lights turned on again.”

How critical is lane choice at Bristol Dragway?

“Lane choice is very critical at Bristol Dragway. In the past, each lane has performed a little different from the other, so being able to run the faster time and pick your lane is important.”

How does Bristol’s unique environment affect the car’s tuning and setup?

“We’re at a little bit of altitude at Bristol with the elevation being almost 1,500 feet. It’s not near the altitude conditions that we’ll see soon in Denver. There will be a little more compression, but I don’t see the Bristol altitude being an issue. The biggest factor we’ve had there is hot temperatures, so when it gets really warm, those are the conditions we struggle with.”

  • Jordan Black (Pro), Doug Stevens (Masters), Jadyn Daniels (Semi-Pro) and Carson Haislip (Young Lions) were among feature winners in the first of 10 nights of racing on Charlotte’s frontstretch quarter-mile

CONCORD, N.C. (June 13, 2022) – Charlotte Motor Speedway’s 29th season of Cook Out Summer Shootout action kicked off on Monday night, with Legend Car and Bandolero feature races joining an action-packed Mascot Mania go-kart race on the frontstretch quarter-mile oval.

The fur-flying field was stacked with talent as Charlotte-area mascots Lug Nut, Chubby, Sir Purr, Champ, Homer, Minty and Boomer put the pedal to the metal to determine mascot supremacy. Lug Nut, the world’s fastest mascot, took third as Sir Purr took the checkered flag following five laps of no-holds-barred mascot mayhem.

An eventful night of competition continued with Bandolero and Legend Car features among seven different divisions.

The Young Lions showed their skills on Monday, as Carson Haislip took the checkered flag following a spectacular feature event.

“Man, I just kept telling myself to hold my line and then not worry what’s out back,” Haislip said. “I knew he was coming and I knew I had to play some strategy there and we were able to come home. This is my first ever win here, so this is amazing.”

In the VP Racing Semi-Pro division, it was all Jadyn Daniels in the feature.

“I think we can only go up from here, so I am super excited for this year and hopefully we can get some more wins,” Daniels said.

The Masters division winner didn’t have to shake off too much rust, as Doug Stevens started the season with a win.

“I have been working on these things forever and been out of the seat for a little while, but when I switched these tires it is a completely different feel and I think I always got that niche for that radial tire,” Steves said.

Wrapping up the competition was the Boston Reid & Company Pro division, which saw past Pro champion Jordan Black add another victory to his resume.

“It feels like home, you know. It has been probably 11 months since I have been out here,” Black said.

Ebike or Moped Bike, Which is best?

Except for cars, have you ever wondered about buying yourself a relatively economical and convenient vehicle to commute to or helping you run some errands? A couple of choices to consider could be an electric bike or a moped bike.

Choosing between them could be very confusing especially when it is the first time you buy an Ebike or moped. With that considered, this article will provide you with some information about the moped and Ebike to help you find the one which suits you the most.

A moped bike is a two-wheel vehicle that is similar to a scooter or small motorcycle and is defined as a low-powered motorcycle that has a maximum speed of 28mph and an engine capacity no greater than 50cc. In most countries, if you have a legal driver’s license, then you can legally drive them on the road.

Mopeds aren’t always subjected to strict regulations that most larger vehicles need to obey, but they cannot go faster than 50km/h and they often need a license plate and they will require fuel. The laws that regulate the use of mopeds will vary from country to country.

An electric bike (Ebike) is a bike that has an electric motor and is more similar to riding a regular bike, but the Ebike is more comfortable and versatile than a regular bike. Although Ebikes are cheaper than moped bikes, electric bikes can represent more of an investment because of the motor and the rechargeable batteries. More importantly, they don’t need a license and are most of the time not subjected to strict regulations.

While the laws that regulate the Ebikes will vary, Ebikes are still an excellent choice for moving around the town. Compared with mopeds, inexpensive e-bikes are slower in speed, but they are more efficient.

While both moped bikes and inexpensive e-bikes are both excellent choices to consider, as of today’s state-of-the-art vehicles, Ebikes are safer and less expensive and are more often allowed in places such as parks and other areas restricted to moped bikes.

Now next, let’s look at the main differences concerning aspects such as safety, fitness, initial investment and cost, and laws to help you make a good choice.

Safety is the priority. Even though you know the road in your community perfectly, getting on the road can always involve a degree of danger.

Ebikes are allowed to ride on bicycle paths and trails with barely any faster vehicles, while moped bikes are often driven on a normal traffic lane with other faster vehicles. The speeds at which an Ebike can be driven are limited to only 30km/h, further limiting the possibility of an accident on an Ebike than on a moped bike.

Ebikes can be better than moped bikes or regular bikes for fitness. Because many people are not just for the convenience of travel, they also use Ebikes for recreation and fitness. In addition, electric bikes are more flexible than regular bicycles due to the motor, which can help to reduce tight joints after a long period of pedaling and you probably won’t be burning many calories on a moped. If you are looking for any fitness advantages, Ebikes will be a much better choice.

The initial cost of the vehicle or the maintenance cost should not be underestimated. Ebikes range from $1000 to over $4000. While the one used for commuting or riding in the town center can be found for around 1200. If you want to buy an Ebike that is not only for commuting but also for hunting or offroad travel, Magicycle All Terrian Fat Tire Electric Bike would be a better choice, which only costs $1589.

Although mopeds are relatively cheaper than ebikes, you are allowed to ride on the road after passing the test and obtaining a license. Also, most moped bikes run on gasoline, which is becoming increasingly expensive in today’s fuel situation and can cost a great deal of money. For electric bikes, this is not an issue because it takes 4-10 hours to get the bike fully charged, so the cost of bikes compared to moped bikes is a lot less.

Maintenance of moped bikes can also cost a lot. Moreover, it is not as easy as replacing items on ebikes by yourself with only a few tools. Some of the items on the moped bikes are more complicated and need professional and advanced techniques to maintain. Therefore, when there is a problem with your moped bike, you should better bring it to an actual mechanic.

Ebikes are more like regular bikes. Electric laws are not as strict as the ones for motorized vehicles. You will be able to ride on bike lanes and cycle paths with an ebike and don’t need insurance or a driver’s license.

There may be some requirements to ride an electric bike. For example, there is the three-class system in the US, which separates electric bikes into three legal classes based on the type of electric bike motor they use. Different classes of ebikes have to follow regulations, which sometimes vary according to local laws. Generally, the max speed of class 1 and 2 ebikes is restricted at a speed of 20 mph and 28mph for class 3 ebikes. Class 3 ebikes are not allowed to ride on paths that exist outside of the roads or on multi-use lanes shared with pedestrians, while class 1 and 2 ebikes are even allowed into parks except on bike lanes.

That is to say, regulations on moped bikes are far stricter than on ebikes because the possibility of accidents on moped bikes is higher than on ebikes. While both of them are excellent vehicles, they can offer you a different experience and great joy no matter whether driving them to work or going around for fun.

Wrap Your Car in Style: A Look at Car Wrap Trends in Melbourne

Photo by Denin Lawley on Unsplash

Car wraps are becoming popular today because they improve your vehicle’s aesthetics as well as protect it from damage. Vehicle wraps are a versatile option to make your cars more creative, protecting and prolonging their original paint.

In this blog, let’s talk about the different car wrap trends in Melbourne you should certainly check out for your vehicle.

Vinyl Car Wraps

Vinyl car wraps are the most famous car wrap Melbourne. Additionally, other materials used in vehicle wraps are also made of composites. Generally, vinyl comes in two variants: cast and calendered.

Cast vinyl has undergone a molding process before being printed with the client’s preferred color and design. This material is durable and stronger compared to calendared vinyl. Another thing you should remember is that cast vinyl should be applied thinner than the calendared variant because it can acquire the same strength with less material.

Because of cast vinyl’s durability and better strength, they are more flexible and can cover contoured and smaller spaces.

On the other hand, calendared vinyl is achieved through applying pressure and heat, making it a cheaper alternative to cast vinyl. However, its limitation includes being less tough and thicker, making it less flexible. Regardless of this drawback, calendared vinyl is a popular option because it’s more budget-friendly.

Carbon Fiber Wraps

If you prefer that your car has a matte finish, then look into carbon fiber wraps. This car wrap trend gives an interesting texture to your car and makes it more resistant to scratches, dents, and other damages. Ultimately, carbon fiber wraps should be your option when you want a wrap that offers top-notch protection for your car.

The only possible downside of this material is the decreased ease of application. Carbon fiber wraps are a lot more challenging to apply, especially when you are applying a full wrap. This material will also look less than the real thing, especially on closer inspection.

Commercial Vehicle Wraps

Commercial vehicle wraps are the general choice when you have a business that uses various vehicles. The main advantage of this car wrap trend is uniformity among all your business vehicles while also allowing other people to know about your brand.

Chrome Wraps

Chrome wraps are perfect for car owners who prefer their vehicles to have stunning and flashy exteriors. However, because this material is heavy-duty, it’s generally difficult to apply, except when you hire professionals to do the work.

Another benefit of chrome wraps is their outstanding heat absorption because of their ability to reflect sunlight. Expect your cars to stay cool even when you leave them under the sun during summertime.

Partial Wraps

As the name suggests, partial wraps only cover certain parts of your car. This option is perfect if you only wish for subtle changes in the appearance of your vehicle. Partial wraps are perfect when your cars already look remarkable and aesthetically pleasing. They are commonly used to cover your car’s roof hood, doors, and trunk.

Make Your Cars Look Stylish with Car Wraps

If you’re looking for a way to improve the look of your car and protect its exterior, a car wrap may be the perfect solution. Vehicle wraps are becoming increasingly popular because they offer many benefits.

The Risks of Driving With Expired Tags

If you’re driving with expired tags, you could be risking a lot more than just a traffic ticket. Depending on your state’s laws, you could be facing hefty fines, having your vehicle impounded, or even having your license suspended.

In some states driving on expired tags is considered a misdemeanor offense. A misdemeanor offense means that you could be facing up to a year in jail and/or a fine of up to $1,000. In other states, it’s classified as a felony offense, which carries even harsher penalties.

So, if your tags have expired, make sure to renew them as soon as possible. It’s not worth the risk of incurring costly penalties or even losing your driving privileges and we’re here to elaborate on why.

Why is driving with expired tags dangerous?

Now, we’ll further elaborate on why driving with expired tags is dangerous to help you get an idea of how important it is to avoid such a situation. Let’s go!

Driving with expired tags is dangerous because it can result in getting pulled over. If an officer pulls you over and sees that your tags are expired, you may be issued a ticket. Depending on the state you live in, this ticket can be quite expensive. In some states, the fine for driving with expired tags can be up to $200.

In addition to the financial cost of getting a ticket, driving with expired tags can also lead to points being added to your driver’s license. These points can cause your insurance rates to increase, and if you accumulate enough points, you may even lose your license.

Although it’s tempting to let your tags expire, it’s definitely not worth the risk. Make sure to renew your tags before they expire to avoid any potential problems.

What is the grace period for driving with expired tags across US countries?

There is no universal answer to this question, as the grace period for driving with expired tags varies from state to state. In some states, there is no grace period at all, and drivers are expected to renew their registration as soon as it expires. In other states, there may be a grace period of a few days or weeks. In Florida, for example, Florida expired tag grace period is just seven days.

If you are planning on driving in a state other than your own, it is important to check the local laws regarding registration and renewals. Some states have reciprocal agreements with neighboring states, which may allow you to drive with an expired registration from your home state. However, these agreements are not always honored by law enforcement, so it is always best to err on the side of caution and renew your registration before traveling.

Tips for renewing your registration before it expires

If you’re renewing your registration before it expires, there are a few things you should keep in mind. First, make sure you have all the necessary documents and information ready. These documents include your driver’s license, proof of insurance, and vehicle registration. You’ll also need to know your renewal date and the amount of your renewal fee.

Next, you’ll need to decide how you want to renew your registration. You can accomplish this step online via email, or in person. Each option has its own set of requirements, so be sure to choose the one that’s best for you.

Finally, once you’ve renewed your registration, be sure to update your address and contact information with the DMV. This way, they can easily reach you if there are any problems with your registration in the future.

NASCAR Top-10 Power Rankings: Sonoma

Note: The quotes in this article are fictional.

1. Kyle Busch: Busch locked up his rear tires and spun on a restart on Lap 88, ruining his shot at challenging for the win at Sonoma. Busch finished 30th.

Braking news,” Busch said. “I really put the ‘F’ in ‘KFB’ on that restart.”

2. Ross Chastain: Chastain finished seventh in the Toyota/Save Mart 350.

“I talked to Denny Hamlin and Chase Elliott in regards to my mistakes at Gateway,” Chastain said. “But that was nothing compared to getting called out by Tony Stewart, who was in the Fox Sports booth. If I had a resume to match that of Stewart, I would tell him to ‘Eat those words.’ And the thing is, Tony would probably do it anyway.”

3. Chase Elliott: Elliott led 26 laps and finished eighth in the Toyota/Save Mart 350.

“We really blew a pit stop that cost us any chance of winning,” Elliott said. “We didn’t fully tighten a lug nut and then had to back up. That’s a penalty for pitting outside the box. So, even though I’m the one shifting the car in reverse, it’s my team that actually makes me go backwards.”

4. Joey Logano: Logano captured Stage 2 at Sonoma and finished 17th.

“I’m happy for Daniel Suarez,” Logano said. “And I think it’s awesome he celebrated by breaking a taco pinata in Victory Circle. I can only imagine the promotional tie-in a certain fast-food restaurant could be planning. Suarez’s is a Cinderella story, and I’m guessing his date for the ball in this commercial is the ‘Taco Belle.'”

5. Ryan Blaney: Blaney finished 6th at Sonoma.

“You may have heard me on my radio commenting on the difficulty of passing,” Blaney said. “I was dropping truth bombs while simultaneously dropping ‘F-bombs.'”

6. Daniel Suarez: Suarez snatched his first Cup series win with a brilliant drive at Sonoma to win the Toyota/Save Mart 350.

“I’m the first Mexican driver to win in the Cup series,” Suarez said. “That’s a big deal. I can’t wait to go home and celebrate with my fans. So, for all the Americans who want me to ‘go back from where I came,’ I plan to.”

7. Kyle Larson: Larson started on the pole at Sonoma and won Stage 1, but disaster struck when his No. 5 Chevy lost its right front wheel on lap 84. Larson finished 15th.

“I could have won this race,” Larson said. “I won the pole, and the car was set up perfectly. I was fully prepared to drive the wheels off my car until my pit crew beat me to it.”

8. Kevin Harvick: Harvick took fourth at Sonoma, posting his fourth top-five of the season.

“I was lucky to finish fourth,” Harvick said. “We had a pit stop in which the car fell off the jack. My pit crew’s been all over the place. Therefore, my season’s had more ups and downs than the jack.”

9. Martin Truex Jr.: Truex struggled at Sonoma with a 26th-place finish.

“The Clash is returning to the Los Angeles Coliseum in 2023,” Truex said. “So, we’re all heading back to ‘La La Land.” Now, if Michael Waltrip does his grid walk at the Clash, it will most certainly be ‘Blah Blah Land.'”

10. Alex Bowman: Bowman finished 16th in the Toyota/Save Mart 350.

“My team was one of the few Hendrick Motorsports teams that understand that race cars work better with four wheels,” Bowman said.

“It’s always fun to visit Sonoma. It’s wine country and probably the only stop on the season where the word ‘charcuterie’ is used correctly.”

McDowell continues quiet consistency with third place finish at Sonoma

Sunday’s Toyota/SaveMart 350 at Sonoma Raceway was a career day for Front Row Motorsports Michael McDowell, but looking at the 2022 season, it seems par for the course given his performance.

Starting fourth, the No. 34 Ford Mustang stayed at the front all race long, and in the end, finished third to eventual winner Daniel Suarez and fellow Ford driver, Chris Buescher. This normally wouldn’t be a surprise given that road courses are one of McDowell’s strong suits. But the 2022 season is almost halfway over and McDowell has already set a career-high in laps led in a season and top-10s in a season (six after Sonoma).

What sticks out about that statistic is that he’s had top-10s on varying types of tracks. He finished seventh in the season-opening Daytona 500 and lingered mid-pack for the next seven races. But in the season’s eighth race at Bristol Dirt, he finished a stout ninth and followed it up with an eighth-place run at Talladega, a track he’s run well at in the past.

Two weeks later he then finished seventh at Darlington for his third top-10 finish in four races and met that with an eighth-place finish at Charlotte in the Coca-Cola 600. At Gateway he set a personal best for most laps led in a season when he led 34 laps, setting his season total at 38. His 18th-place finish was indicative of how fast his car was. Then come Sonoma and McDowell had a chance to shine as a road racer and he came within shouting distance of his second career win.

It helps that he’s kept his car mostly out of trouble this season, as his lone DNF came at Fontana in the second race of the season due to an electrical issue. Otherwise, he hasn’t overdriven his equipment and has kept quiet behind the wheel. But despite not having the resources that most of the bigger teams have, McDowell has credited their momentum to learning the new Gen-7 car as well as his rapport with crew chief Blake Harris.

“I felt like this Next Gen car was going to level the playing field and give us more opportunities to show the level of team and program that we are, and I’m feeling like we’re getting an opportunity to do that now,” McDowell said. “I think we’re getting close to having the speed and if we can continue that, there’s going to be a weekend where we hit everything right and we have an opportunity to win a race.”

McDowell and the Front Row Motorsports crew are riding a hot streak of momentum heading into Nashville, where he finished 16th in 2021. He holds three Xfinity Series starts and two ARCA starts at the speedway, so he’s no stranger to the track. But given his performance across the various speedway types this season, there’s no reason to believe that the No. 34 crew can’t put out another strong performance in 2022.
