CORVETTE RACING AT IMOLA: In Pursuit of Points

Pair of TF Sport Corvettes set for second round of FIA WEC LMGT3 action

DETROIT (April 15, 2025) – TF Sport aims to give the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R program a second straight victory in the FIA World Endurance Championship this weekend as the LMGT3 field moves to Italy for Sunday’s Six Hours of Imola.

Almost two full months have passed since TF Sport’s opening-round triumph in the 1812Km of Qatar to kickoff the championship. Daniel Juncadella, Jonny Edgar and Ben Keating – teammates in the No. 33 Corvette – won in dramatic fashion and as a result arrive at Imola with the class championship lead.

On the other side of the TF Sport garage, the No. 81 Corvette trio of Charlie Eastwood, Rui Andrade and Tom Van Rompuy hope to turn their fortunes around in another highly competitive race between 18 entries and nine manufacturers.

This is the second straight season at Imola for the Corvette program. At the end of last year, the results were positive: TF Sport was one of two teams in the class to have both entries finish in the top-10, and Chevrolet was one of two manufacturers to have multiple entries finish eighth or better.

Prior to 2024, Corvette Racing and the FIA WEC competed at Autodromo Nazionale Monza for two years. The program scored a landmark GTE Pro victory in 2022 and clinched the 2023 GTE Am championship at the circuit with Keating as one of the drivers.

The Six Hours of Monza is scheduled for 7 a.m. ET / 1 p.m. CET on Sunday. Full live streaming coverage of Free Practice 3, qualifying and the race will be available on the FIA WEC app and the MAX app in the U.S. Radio Le Mans also will stream audio coverage of Saturday’s final practice and qualifying, plus Sunday’s race.

TF SPORT PRE-EVENT QUOTES

DANI JUNCADELLA, NO. 33 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “It should be an exciting weekend after an unexpected win in Qatar. We are hoping to be competitive in Imola. It’s a historic track and I really love the place. After such a good start, we can be confident that we can have a strong opportunity to fight a top result. Let’s see how the weather plays out. It was quite chaotic with some rain through the race. That could play a role in the outcome. Whatever the situation is, we will be ready for it. Hopefully we can have a strong start to the week in practice and work our way forward from there.”

JONNY EDGAR, NO. 33 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “I’ve been to Imola quite a lot and it was always a track I like. I’m looking forward to going back. It’s hard to say how we will go there. In Qatar we didn’t expect the result we got, which was a brilliant one. The track is not easy and it’s quite hard to overtake. In Qatar it was similar. We did a good job of making up positions on strategy. Not all of the spots we made up were on-track. We did a good job of avoiding mistakes, didn’t have any penalties, which is one of the biggest reasons we won there. If we can do something similar this weekend, we’ll be in a great position.”

BEN KEATING, NO. 33 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “I am looking forward to racing the Corvette at Imola even though I have pretty low expectations. I am excited because I have never driven at Imola, and there is always a special challenge of learning a new track so quickly and trying to be competitive after two practice sessions.

“The good news is that we won the first race for WEC. The tough news is that we will have a double-whammy of ‘success handicap’ from winning that first race and leading the championship. We didn’t have a super-fast car in the first race, just great execution. We have the possibility to do it again, but it will be much more challenging. Having said that, I expect that Imola would be a good track for the Corvette.”

CHARLIE EASTWOOD, NO. 81 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “I’m ready for Round 2 of the FIA WEC as we go back to Imola. On our side of the garage, we didn’t get the result we hoped in Qatar. The positive is that we had great pace all week. Hopefully we have the same speed with a little more luck this time around. We definitely will be gunning for a win to make it two-for-two for Corvette and TF Sport in this year’s championship.”

RUI ANDRADE, NO. 81 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “I’m pretty excited to get going again in Imola. We for sure need to bounce back from our unfortunate DNF in Qatar. The team has done an exceptional job to give us such a competitive car, and the No. 33 winning in Qatar is proof of that. So I’m looking forward to chasing a big result of our own this weekend with Charlie and Tom.”

TOM VAN ROMPUY, NO. 81 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “This week we go racing again in Imola. I really look forward to achieving a good result, especially after the DNF in Qatar. But for all of us, the win for the No. 33 guys in Qatar really shows that we have a very strong package as a team to chase podiums. So I have high hopes for the next race, I’m ready to fight and can’t wait to drive the Corvette Z06 GT3.R again on this iconic track.”

AC Maintenance: The Role of Air Filters for Optimal Performance

Photo by Zulki Jrzt on Unsplash

Your air conditioner’s efficiency and lifespan depend heavily on air filters. Underestimated too often, they play a massive role in energy efficiency, indoor air quality, and system efficiency. A clean filter allows your AC system to run efficiently, but a dirty or clogged one means costly repairs as well as poor indoor air quality. By learning why filter replacements on a regular basis are vital, you will be able to avoid breakdowns and maintain your system at its peak performing capacity. Let’s take a more in-depth consideration of the ways air filters are of ultimate worth when it comes to AC maintenance in Plano, TX, and the manner in which they ensure a healthy and cost-efficient cooling system.

Regular maintenance of your air conditioning system is crucial for ensuring its longevity and efficiency. One key aspect of this maintenance is the regular replacement of air filters, which play a vital role in maintaining optimal performance by preventing dust and debris from clogging the system. For those in need of professional assistance, air conditioning repair rowlett offers expert services to ensure your system runs smoothly. By addressing issues promptly and maintaining your air conditioning unit regularly, you can avoid costly repairs and extend its lifespan, ensuring comfort and efficiency year-round.

Regular maintenance of your air conditioning system is crucial for ensuring optimal performance and longevity. One key aspect of this maintenance is the regular replacement of air filters, which play a vital role in maintaining air quality and system efficiency. If you’re looking for professional assistance, finding a reliable service provider is essential. For those searching for hvac near me, it’s important to choose a service that understands the intricacies of your system and can provide timely and effective solutions. By doing so, you can ensure that your air conditioning unit operates smoothly, providing comfort and efficiency throughout its lifespan.

1. Improvement in Indoor Air Quality

Air filters trap dust, pollen, pet dander, and other airborne contaminants that circulate around your house. Dusty filters trap pollutants, keeping them out of the air you breathe. It is great for patients with asthma and allergies, as it reduces exposure to irritants. Filthy filters lose efficiency over time, allowing pollutants to move and affecting indoor air quality. Washing or changing your filters daily keeps your AC equipment in first-rate condition, keeps the air breathable, and provides a new, healthy space.

2. Maximizing Energy Efficiency

A new air filter allows your AC unit to run without working as hard, thereby saving energy.

Dirty filters, on the other hand, make the system work harder when pushing air through, which takes more power. This additional energy consumption not only drives up your bills but also shortens your appliance’s lifespan. Regular replacement of your filter, however, can reduce your energy consumption by as much as 15%, the industry estimates. Regular filter cleaning translates to lower bills and a greener home.

3. Cost Savings Due to Preventive Maintenance

Dirty filters make your AC system work extra hard, which can result in overheating and mechanical breakdown. When airflow is constricted, critical components such as the blower motor and evaporator coil become overloaded. Excessive stress can lead to premature wear on components, necessitating AC repairs in Frisco, TX. Failure to replace filters can even cause the entire system to collapse, necessitating emergency repair by an HVAC technician. Regular replacement of filters minimizes the risk of sudden failure and saves repair costs.

4. Extending the Life of Your AC Unit

Routine filter maintenance can help significantly extend the life of your AC system. Clean filters ensure the entire system operates without straining internal parts. It lowers the risk of overheating and lengthens the life of your system. The HVAC technicians would normally ask you to replace the air filters every 1-3 months, depending on usage and environmental conditions. Having such effortless maintenance ensures your AC unit functions for years to come without you having to spend money on premature replacement.

5. Having Symmetrical Cooling Capability

Dirty filters will most definitely cause uneven cooling and cold and hot spots within your house. When airflow is hindered, certain areas become warm or cold relative to the rest of the spaces, which leads to discomfort despite proper AC maintenance. Even airflow through clean filters will make all spaces receive the same level of cooling. It is especially so during summer, and you use your AC the most to keep you at your best comfort. Regular cleaning of your filters will ensure your system delivers consistent, reliable performance year-round.

Maintaining the right filters improves indoor air quality, saves energy, reduces repair costs, and ensures consistent cooling performance. By making filter maintenance the first item on your list, you’re prolonging the life of your AC system and making your home healthier and more comfortable. Develop a routine for checking and replacing filters from time to time to avoid unnecessary issues and maintain optimal cooling performance.

Don’t let dirty filters compromise your AC system’s performance. Schedule routine maintenance with a certified HVAC technician from ClassicABC to keep your air conditioner running smoothly and efficiently. Prioritize filter care today for better air quality and lower energy bills.

FAQs

1. How often should I change my AC filter?

You need to replace regular AC filters every 1-3 months. Pet homes or homes of allergy victims should be replaced more frequently to ensure the best air quality.

2. Will a dirty filter make my AC inoperable?

Yes, a dirty filter can block airflow, causing the system to overheat and become inoperable. This condition compromises filter efficiency, allowing your AC to operate inefficiently.

Ford Performance NASCAR – Rockingham Advance

ROCKINGHAM

Friday, April 18 — NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, 5 p.m. ET (FS1)
Saturday, April 19 — NASCAR Xfinity Series, 4 p.m. ET (CW)

NASCAR returns to its roots as Rockingham Speedway is back on the schedule for the first time since 2012, hosting the NASCAR Craftsman Truck and NASCAR Xfinity Series this weekend. Ford enters with the most wins at the track in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, and is coming off its first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series win of the year after Chander Smith went to Victory Lane in Bristol.

FORD FIRST AT ROCKINGHAM

Thanks to Mark Martin, Ford has won more NASCAR Xfinity Series races at Rockingham Speedway than any other manufacturer. The NASCAR Hall of Famer is the all-time series leader with 11 victories at the track, including three season sweeps (1993, ‘96, ‘97). Ford has 14 wins overall, which is five more than Chevrolet and seven more than Pontiac. Chad Little, Jeff Burton and Jason Keller are the other Ford drivers to win a series race at Rockingham.

SMITH GOING FOR TWO IN A ROW

Ford got its first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series victory last weekend when Chandler Smith passed Corey Heim with 14 laps to go and won at Bristol Motor Speedway. Smith, who survived two late-race restarts to win his first race with Ford, gave Front Row Motorsports its 11th all-time series win. Smith is the only driver to finish in the top 10 of all six races and goes into Saturday’s scheduled race second in the point standings.

SHELDON CREED: “I think for someone that’s been a NASCAR fan for a long time, it’s probably really cool to see NASCAR go back there. For me, my first time driving in when we went to go test felt like I was driving into this scene from Days of Thunder. That’s literally what it feels like.”

LAYNE RIGGS: “At Rockingham, I think it’s gonna be a typical repave. I think it’s gonna be the same kind of way that you ran North Wilkesboro – everybody runs the bottom all day long, all practice, all qualifying. One person is gonna find speed on the top and then everybody is gonna migrate to the top and just kind of build a cushion and everybody is gonna run the top. I mean, every place finally has to be repaved. We don’t really like to see it. Drivers like to see characteristics in a track and tire wear, but sometimes it just gets a little too egregious, so it’s gonna struggle a little bit to start, but that’s any repave on a racetrack. I think it will be a little one-grooved, either one-grooved on the bottom or one-grooved on the top and hoping we qualify good and stay in front of everybody. That’s the plan.”

ALL GROWN UP

The last NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Rockingham Speedway was 2004 and most of the Ford drivers who will be competing in the race this weekend were kids. In the case of Sam Mayer, he was just an infant and almost eight months old on the date of that last race. Harrison Burton was only four and Sheldon Creed seven at the time, but all three will be leading Ford on Saturday. Veteran Ryan Sieg, who was 17 the last time the series raced at The Rock, is coming off a Ford-best seventh-place finish last week in Bristol. That marked his fourth top-10 finish of the year and kept him ninth in the overall point standings.

THIRD TIME A CHARM?

This will mark the third time Rockingham Speedway has hosted a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race with the previous two coming in 2012 and 2013. Ford is still in search of its first win, but two drivers competing this weekend participated in both of those events. ThorSport Racing’s Matt Crafton led 40 laps in the debut race before finishing third and followed that up with a sixth-place run the following year. Another current driver who was in both races was Ryan Sieg, who registered back-to-back 22nd-place efforts.

Tree Removal Techniques: The Safest Methods for Large Trees

Photo by Markus Spiske on Unsplash

Tree removal is a complex process that requires planning and execution to guarantee efficiency and safety. Tree removal, particularly large trees, is extremely challenging due to their size, weight, and proximity to buildings or power lines. Proper techniques can prevent accidents, property damage, and environmental harm. This article provides the safest techniques for tree removal in Bellevue, WA, and the best practices to follow.

1. Pre-Removal Assessment and Planning

Before cutting down a big tree, inspect it properly. Search for potential hazards, such as weak branches, leaning trunks, or decay. Identify nearby buildings, power cables, and underground utilities. Plan the falling direction to ensure the tree falls safely and does not cause damage to anything. Professionals often apply risk assessment equipment and aerial inspections to see which path is the best to take.

2. Sectional Tree Cutting

For trees involving buildings or power lines, sectional felling is the safest. Rather than cutting at the root of the tree, arborists cut the tree in pie sections. Climbers or bucket trucks work on the top branches, pruning and sawing trunk sections in a systematic approach. Rigging and rope gear lower cut sections down carefully to the ground, causing minimal impact.

3. Directional Felling

Directional felling can be used if the area is clear around it. Directional felling involves making precise cuts at the ground level to lead the tree in a given direction. Notch cut back cut, and hinge wood ensure a safe fall of the tree. Experts use wedges and ropes to control the fall and prevent uncontrolled movement.

4. Crane-Assisted Tree Cutting

In situations where the trees are too big or unstable, the use of cranes is safe removal. Through a crane, one lifts and lowers parts of the tree, and there is minimal risk of falling branches. This is perfect when used in urban areas, as manual felling can be risky. Crane removal is faster and keeps workers as well as other buildings, safe.

5. Stump Grinding and Removal

Once a tree has been felled, the remaining stump is a possible safety threat and is susceptible to pests. The best means of removal is stump grinding. A heavy grinder reduces the stump to wood shavings, which can be quickly removed or will naturally decompose. Professionals may use excavation techniques to take out the stump and restore the area to its initial condition for complete removal.

6. Rope and Rigging Systems

Rigging systems and ropes add further control when cutting trees. Arborists secure massive branches and trunk pieces with ropes and lower them safely to the ground. They avoid sudden drops and impact destruction. Pulley systems, friction brakes, and mechanical winches are sophisticated rigging methods for better control and protection.

7. Emergency Cutting of Trees in Hazardous Conditions

Storms, disease, or structural damage can render trees immediate hazards. Emergency tree removal requires prompt action to prevent property damage and injury. Professionals assess the health of the tree and use specialized cutting and support gear to safely remove it. Safety gear, such as helmets, chainsaw chaps, and harnesses, protects workers on high-risk removals.

8. Hiring Professional Tree Disposal Services

Felling large trees without proper skills or equipment is dangerous. Hiring experienced tree-felling professionals ensures safety, effectiveness, and compliance with local laws. Professionals use advanced machinery, safety protocols, and risk assessments to complete the task without any accidents. Professional services also handle debris removal, stump grinding, and cleanup of the site, providing a convenient experience.

Felling of big trees requires planning, correct technique, and safety measures to prevent accidents. Sectional dismantling, directional felling, crane operations, and rigging systems offer safe and effective alternatives. Stump removal and emergency response protocols also enhance safety. Professional tree disposal services ensure the process is done safely and efficiently. If you need professional tree disposal, hire experienced professionals to do the job safely and effectively.

The Best Materials for Durable Sliding Glass Door Installation

Sliding glass doors bring a fresh, contemporary element to any residential setting with added functionality and aesthetics. Nonetheless, the proper selection of material remains essential for optimizing durability and efficiency. As more choices are open, one has to comprehend both the positives and negatives of the material at hand to make a solid decision. Opting for a suitable frame and glass type will define how resistant your sliding doors will be to regular usage, weather, and possible wear with time. Below is a comprehensive guide on the most suitable materials for long-lasting sliding glass door installation in Palm Desert, CA.

1. Vinyl: Affordable and Low-Maintenance

Vinyl is a highly sought-after material for sliding glass doors because of its low cost and minimal maintenance. It resists water, so it’s a great choice for rainy or humid climates. Vinyl won’t rot, warp, or need to be painted often like wood, so it’s a functional long-term option. The material also has good insulation qualities, which can cut energy bills by maintaining indoor temperatures. It is light in weight, enabling quicker and easier installation, which can save on labor costs.

2. Aluminum: Sleek, Strong, and Weather-Resistant

Aluminum is desired for its strength and sleek, industrial look. Its durability permits thinner frames, a greater glass surface area, and more expansive outdoor vistas. The metal is resistant to rust and corrosion in nature, making it suitable for enduring extreme weather patterns. While aluminum frames do transmit heat, most new constructions feature thermal breaks to reduce energy loss. Its minimal maintenance requirements and durable performance make it a high-demand material for new homes.

3. Fiberglass: Extremely Strong and Energy Efficient

Fiberglass is exceptionally strong and resistant to warping, cracking, or expanding. It provides better insulation, thus being the ideal choice for enhanced energy efficiency. Fiberglass is less maintenance intensive compared to wood and can withstand extreme temperatures and UV rays very well. Its capacity to replicate the look of natural wood makes it possible for homeowners to have a timeless look without the downsides of maintenance chores for wood. Fiberglass frames are also eco-friendly in that they are produced from recycled materials.

4. Wood: Timeless Sophistication with Nature’s Warmth

Wood sliding glass doors provide a classic and sophisticated look to any home. They have superior insulation capabilities, which make them energy-efficient if well cared for. But wood does need periodic care, such as sealing and painting, to guard against warping, rot, or insect attack. In spite of its maintenance requirements, wood offers a one-of-a-kind aesthetic appeal that adds beauty to both classic and contemporary home styles. For even greater durability, some manufacturers make wood-clad frames, coupling the beauty of wood on the inside with an outer protective coat.

5. Composite: Revolutionary Combination of Strength and Efficiency

Composite sliding glass doors integrate various materials, often wood fibers and PVC, to provide greater durability. This combination brings the strength of wood with the weather resistance of man-made materials. Composite frames are highly resistant to moisture, warping, and insect attack, making them suitable for long-term use. They also reduce heating and cooling expenses by being more energy-efficient. With the capacity to be a duplicate of the appearance of natural wood or a modern finish, composite doors bring style and durability.

Getting the proper material for sliding glass doors is crucial for durability, energy efficiency, and good looks. Vinyl provides affordability and low maintenance, whereas aluminum brings streamlined, weather-resistant strength. Fiberglass provides better insulation and durability, while wood brings traditional flair with regular maintenance. Composite doors offer the best of both worlds, with strength, efficiency, and design versatility. Taking into account climate, maintenance, and personal design choices, you can choose the perfect material to make your sliding doors last.

How Businesses Benefit from Secure Storage Services

With today’s business environment demanding high levels of speed, space management becomes the key to success in operations. Excess stock, critical documents, or valuable equipment—whatever the business needs, it requires a safe storage facility to secure its assets and maximize workspace use. Midlothian, TX, storage service solutions offer businesses an easy, well-organized, and affordable method to store critical items and allow quick access whenever required. By investing in professional storage facilities, companies can improve security, minimize clutter, and increase overall efficiency.

1. Improved Security for Precious Assets

Businesses frequently store sensitive documents, electronics, and valuable inventory that demand strict security measures. Secure storage facilities offer advanced protections like 24/7 surveillance, controlled access systems, and on-site security personnel to prevent unauthorized entry and theft. These safeguards ensure business assets remain protected, minimizing the risk of financial losses from burglary or mishandling while providing peace of mind that critical items are stored in a safe, monitored environment.

2. Maximized Office Space Use

Overcrowded office spaces with files, additional furniture, and seasonal stock can be a hindrance to productivity and efficiency. A secure storage solution allows companies to declutter by moving non-essential items offsite. This maximizes office space, improves organization, and creates a more concentrated work environment. Employees are able to work efficiently without distractions, while companies have easy access to stored assets when required, ensuring smooth operations and enhanced workplace functionality.

3. Cost-Effective Business Storage Solution

Leasing more office or warehouse space comes at a cost, particularly for small and medium enterprises. Secure storage solutions provide a cost-effective option by availing scalable space in terms of individual business requirements. Rather than locking into a long-term lease, businesses can scale storage space as needed, enabling them to control costs effectively without incurring avoidable expenses.

4. Efficient Inventory Management

Merchants, online stores, and factories need good inventory management in order to supply customers. Lock-up storage warehouses offer air-conditioned conditions, neat shelving, and stock monitoring systems that help products stay at their best. Companies can place seasonal stock, bulk orders, or surplus items without the risk of damage or loss, enabling them to better manage supply chains.

5. Protection from Environmental Hazards

Severe weather conditions, humidity, and insects can ruin valuable business assets if not stored in a proper manner. Safe storage facilities provide climate-controlled storage units that maintain temperature and humidity levels, ensuring the preservation of sensitive

materials like paper documents, electronics, and furniture. These safety precautions assist businesses in protecting their investments and preserving the quality of stored materials.

6. Efficient Business Relocation and Expansion

As companies move or expand, they require temporary storage to facilitate the process. Secure storage units provide an adaptable solution for storing office equipment, furniture, and inventory securely. This serves to reduce downtime, minimize interruptions, and enable a seamless moving process. With secure storage, companies can pick up where they left off rapidly without logistical hiccups, keeping efficiency and productivity intact during the transition.

7. Secure Document and Data Storage

Companies dealing with confidential documents require safe storage to avoid unauthorized access. Law firms, banks, and healthcare facilities are required to adhere to privacy laws. Safe storage options such as file archiving, secure units, and electronic backups guarantee sensitive data remains secure. These facilities assist companies in staying compliant, protecting information, and allowing easy retrieval when needed, minimizing security threats and enhancing document management effectiveness.

8. Flexible Access and Convenience

One of the major advantages of warehousing in a secure fashion is easy access to stored materials. Most facilities offer 24/7 access, online inventory monitoring, and delivery capabilities, which make it easy for companies to efficiently manage assets. This flexibility enables companies to pick up or deposit items at will without interrupting processes, facilitating seamless workflow, enhanced organization, and improved management of valuable equipment, documents, and inventory while ensuring security and accessibility all the time.

Secure warehousing is a good investment for both large and small companies. It is a method of improving security, maximizing office space, inventory control, and having cost-saving means for short- and long-term storage facilities. Through using expert storage management, companies are able to focus on productivity and expansion while making their assets safe and well cared for.

2. Do secure storage services enable businesses to save money?

Kyle Washington and GMG Racing Continue to Roll with Double Podium GT America Finish at the 50th Grand Prix of Long Beach

Kyle Washington Continues 2025 Sprint Race Hot Streak with a Pair of Second-Place SRO GT America Powered by AWS Finishes Saturday and Sunday in the No. 32 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R

LONG BEACH, California (April 15, 2025) – Longtime GMG Racing driver Kyle Washington continued his 2025 roll in national sports car racing sprint race competition Saturday and Sunday at the 50th Grand Prix of Long Beach with a pair of second place finishes in each day’s 40-minute SRO GT America powered by AWS races in his No. 32 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R.

The hard-earned runner-up results are Washington’s best career finishes at Long Beach and give him a run of four-straight podium finishes in top-tier sports car sprint race series to date that are just part of his early-season success this year.

The Long Beach podiums follow back-to-back victories in both his No. 32 GT R and his identically liviried No. 232 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup in GT America and the USAC Porsche Sprint Challenge USA West series respectively last month at Sonoma Raceway. Washington also scored a Bronze-class victory in an IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge sprint race last January at Daytona International Speedway in the GT R.

Washington’s success also carried the flag for GMG Racing at Long Beach after his three teammates – Patrick Mulcahy, CJ Moses and James Sofronas – were all forced to persevere through a challenging and at times frustrating weekend.

“We just didn’t get the across-the-board results, but I have to thank Kyle for carrying the torch for us this weekend,” said Sofronas, who is both a driver and the Principal and Founder of GMG Racing. “I am obviously happy for his pace, and two second-place finishes is a tremendous effort. His driving and racecraft has never been better, and he is still improving.”

Joining Sofronas in getting off to a pair of fast starts in both of the weekend’s 40-minute sprints, Washington’s Porsche ran in podium contention with the No. 14 GMG Racing Audi R8 LMS of Sofronas both days.

With Sofronas up front, Washington put on the show of the race on Saturday when he battled back-and-forth for third place with an Aston Martin. On Sunday, Washington and Sofronas both got a jump on the race polesitter and ran in tight formation with Washington in second and Sofronas in third for the majority of the race.

“Saturday was definitely one of the harder races I’ve done after battling with and chasing that Aston Martin down,” Washington said. “We had a good start, got a little lucky when I went pretty aggressive, but it worked out well. Then the chase was on to catch that really fast Aston for most of the race. It was all I could do, and it was the entire time. I was right behind him as the race was winding down and, finally with about two laps left, it was it was great to get him with a switch-back pass.”

While Washington delighted the cheering crowd with his podium pass, Sofronas was cruising comfortably up front Saturday when disaster struck less than two minutes from the finish. Accelerating out of the famous Long Beach hairpin, one of the Audi’s half shaft axles snapped and Sofronas agonizingly came to a stop just before the start/finish line on the front straight. Washington moved up to second after passing his stricken teammate while Sofronas saw what would have been his fourth Long Beach win slip away.

“You have to be prepared for the ups and downs,” Sofronas said. “We started off with mega pace from all the guys with Kyle, Patrick and me in the GT3 class, and CJ, who was anxious to get behind the wheel again in GT2 after a lot of time off.”

Debuting Long Beach driver Mulcahy, in the No. 54 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R, and Moses, in his

No. 58 GMG Racing/CrowdStrike/AWS Audi R8 LMS GT2, both rebounded from Saturday mechanical issues before the race for solid showings on Sunday.

“For me personally, I would certainly like to forget this weekend, and I definitely don’t like it when my teammates are not able to make a race start due to some technical issues,” Sofronas said. “As always, the GMG Racing team persevered and rebounded and worked all night to make sure all of our cars were fixed to get them back out on Sunday. My first concern is always the team clients and making sure they’re taken care of. My racing is just a bonus after that.”

Mulcahy did well to finish seventh in the GT3 class Sunday, the final car to take the checkered flag on the lead lap, despite his limited track time. Moses shook off Saturday’s issues to race competitively in the GT2 division and reached the podium as the second-place finisher in what was a respectable battle with the race winner in the two-car class.

“We had a reasonably decent qualifying, but it was cut short by the red flags and we really never got in a flyer,” Moses said. “Then, going out the grid for the first race, we had what turned out to be a regulator fault in the alternator that was spiking voltage in the car. That basically didn’t allow the car to operate and we missed the race, but overnight the team worked hard, did some trouble shooting and figured it out with 45 minutes to spare Sunday morning. We rolled the car out, were ready to go, and GMG Racing, in their typical form, took care of the car and got us out there. I went out and ran a very solid stint for having not been in the car for six months and only having basically an hour’s worth of track time up to that point. I feel very positive about how we did, and I look forward to my next race, which will be at VIRginia International Raceway (VIR).”

Sofronas was the only member of the team to miss out on a Sunday rebound when more frustration set in, once again in the race’s final minutes. He was looking at a third-place finish after tracking Washington in second only to have the fourth-place car tap the Audi and put Sofronas in the wall at the hairpin. Sofronas recovered to take the checkered flag sixth in GT3 but left Long Beach disappointed after coming so close to another race win on his 20th anniversary at Long Beach.

“We had high hopes coming into this weekend, but I’ve been in this business for over 32 years and have seen it all,” Sofronas said. “So, I have to look at the silver lining of the weekend, which is Kyle’s double podium and that he has stepped into the championship hunt in GT America. CJ will have a better weekend for sure on his home track at VIR, and I feel bad he and Patrick didn’t have a chance to show the pace they had in practice in Saturday’s race. Patrick is definitely an emerging force to be reckoned with as an up-and-coming driver, and we are proud to be associated with him. His name will definitely be well known in the future. He’s good.”

Next up for GMG Racing on the SRO America schedule is an all-series weekend of competition at Circuit of The Americas (COTA), April 25 – 27.

Noah Gragson Key Takeaways

Stage One: 29th / Stage Two: 29th / Race Result: 23rd

Noah Gragson made his third Bristol Motor Speedway NASCAR Cup Series start this past Sunday. Saturday’s practice & qualifying session was highlighted by the heavy tire wear on the team’s Goodyear tires, showing Gragson and the No. 4 team signs they were in for another 2024 Spring race. Gragson qualified 31st for the 500-lap event. With Sunday’s warmer weather, the concrete track changed, and didn’t provide the same tire wear as in Saturday’s P&Q session. Gragson and the team adapted to the track conditions, changing their race strategy to put them in position to turn the day around. Gragson struggled throughout the first two stages but manage to finish within the top-25 as the checkered flag waved, finishing in the 23rd position, his fourth top-25 finish of the season.

“We expected it to race like last spring based on qualifying and tire wear, but the warmer weather Sunday completely changed the track,” said Gragson. “With most of us going the same speed there was no passing. The team gave me a good car and it drove well.”

Zane Smith Key Takeaways

Stage One: 23rd / Stage Two: 21st / Race Result: 27th

Zane Smith 18th for this past Sunday’s 500-lap race at the Bristol Motor Speedway. Sunday’s pre-race festivities were highlighted by an Aaron’s Lucky Dog alumni photo with the likes of Michael Waltrip and Michael McDowell. Starting from the 18th spot on the grid, Smith stayed within the top-25, finishing 23rd and 21st in Stage One and Two, respectively. With limited on-track incidents to bring out cautions, Smith and the No. 38 team weren’t able to pull strategy to gain spots. Smith crossed the start / finish line in 27th.

“Today was tough, for sure, but you can’t have a good race every race,” said Smith. “We took a gamble with that pit stop hoping for a caution, but it just didn’t go our way. Still super proud of this No. 38 team and the effort all weekend. It was awesome to see everyone’s love for the Aaron’s Lucky Dog scheme, too”

Todd Gilliland Key Takeaways

Stage One: 32nd / Stage Two: 25th / Race Result: 35th

Todd Gilliland made his fifth Bristol Motor Speedway NASCAR Cup Series start this past Sunday, qualifying 30th for the event. Gilliland struggled with the handling of his Ford Mustang Dark Horse throughout the day, reporting he was tight entering the turns. Gilliland finished Stage One in 32nd. In Stage Two, Gilliland climbed back to the top-25, finishing the stage in 25th. In the final stage, Gilliland was forced to make an emergency trip to pit road after running out of fuel. As a result, Gilliland went seven laps down, finishing the race in 35th.

“It was a long weekend,” said Gilliland. “We dug ourselves in a hole during qualifying, and with no cautions, we just never had the chance to make any gains on track. You’ll have races like that, we’ll just come back from the off-week stronger and ready for Talladega.”
