The driver of the No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet from Charlotte survived a chaotic night and a long regular season to grab his first Cup career win and a spot in the 2020 Playoffs.
The 2014 Cup champion recorded his seventh victory of the season, a milestone win for Ford and he clinched the regular-season title following the second event of the weekend at the Monster Mile.
The Dawsonville, Georgia, native will start on pole position for the third time this season and in the first of two Cup races at Dover International Speedway.
William Byron continues to hold sole possession of the final spot to the 2020 Cup Playoffs by 25 points over teammate Jimmie Johnson with three regular-season races remaining.
The Dawsonville, Georgia native claimed his third consecutive road course win and etched himself as the winner of the inaugural Daytona RC winner following a dominating performance.
"To join dad in winning this event, heck, I mean, that's not just special, that's a lot of years and a lot of history for everything to come full circle like that," Elliott said. “It's pretty dang cool.”
The second-generation driver from Dawsonville, GA, prevailed in a late shootout against NASCAR's elite to win the million dollar prize at Thunder Valley.
