After an off week for me I decided that I could not stay out of the Kurt Busch debacle. NASCAR announced today that, according to the press release, “effectively immediately, the indefinite suspension of Kurt Busch has been lifted.
"I like to gamble. I liked the call. I love being aggressive,” he stated after the race. “We were going to drive up there and pass that No. 4 (Kevin Harvick). So, we had to take a chance. Second, fifth, fourth, whatever; it really don’t matter if you don’t win.”
Delaware Attorney General Matt Denn’s office announced Thursday morning that they will not file any criminal charges against Kurt Busch. The decision comes after an investigation stemming from allegations made by Busch’s ex-girlfriend, Patricia Driscoll, of domestic assault.
Kurt Busch, who was suspended by NASCAR on Feb. 20, will actively pursue reinstatement. He agreed to NASCAR’s terms and conditions last Friday to begin the process.
Although it’s not uncommon for a race car to not get through pre-qualifying inspection on the first try, it is pretty uncommon for multiple race cars to miss qualifying.
This weekend the NASCAR Sprint Cup, XFINITY and Camping World Truck Series travel to Atlanta Motor Speedway. Saturday features a doubleheader beginning with the XFINITY Series Hisense 250 race at 2 p.m. followed by the Camping World Truck Series Hyundai Construction Equipment 200 at 5:30 p.m. The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series closes out the racing weekend Sunday at 1 p.m. on FOX.
