R3 Motorsports Partners with the Ivy League’s Cornell Racing

CHINA GROVE, NC. (May 11, 2011) –R3 Motorsports announced today they have partnered with Cornell Racing as an Associate Sponsor for three NASCAR Nationwide Series races this season.

This partnership will feature the Cornell Racing logo on the No. 23 Dodge of R3 Motorsports for those races and a collaborative effort to capitalize on some commonalities between the team and university.

The partnership also makes R3 Motorsports a Title Sponsor for Cornell Racing’s efforts as they go for an unprecedented 10th world championship in Formula SAE this week at Michigan International Speedway.

Formula SAE is an international competition for students to design, manufacture and contend with their car.

“We’re proud to partner with Cornell Racing to help raise awareness of their program as their teams, like NASCAR teams, heavily depend on sponsorship to do what they love,” said Robert Richardson, Sr., owner of R3 Motorsports.

“It is an opportunity to partner with a team and a university that is known for producing some of the world’s best engineers and giving them the attention they deserve.”

Cornell Racing plans on making their first trip to Germany later this year to race their car, ARG11, in the Formula Student Germany competition held at the world famous Hockenheim Ring in Baden-Wüttemberg, Germany.

“We wouldn’t be able to make this trip without the help of our donors.  The partnership with R3 helps us take advantage of opportunities that help our students grow personally and professionally,” said Albert George, Faculty Advisor to Cornell Racing and J.F. Carr Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Cornell’s Sibley School. Cornell starts competition today at Formula SAE Michigan, which will go through May 14th.  The No. 23 Dodge will have the Cornell Racing logo on the car for the first time at the Charlotte race in a few weeks.  R3 also plans to celebrate Cornell’s great season and trip to Germany by hosting some of the team members at the Watkins Glen International race on August 13, 2011.

About R3 Motorsports: Fueled by a passion for racing, R3 Motorsports has enjoyed an emergence in the NASCAR Nationwide Series as a professional and successful race team.  In 2010, the team enjoyed their best success yet by earning more top 15 and top 20 finishes than ever before in their No. 23 Dodge.  In 2011, they’re looking to improve on that even more and lay the groundwork early for a successful season.

About Cornell Racing: Cornell FSAE is more than just a race car team.  Beginning in 1986, their numerous awards – including 9 World Championships – attest to their unmatched accomplishments.  Their unwavering dedication drives them to continuously push themselves to design and build the best possible car each year.
