THE MONSTER HAD HIS WAY WITH WHITE AND JDM AT DOVER

Race: Lucas Oil 200

Date: May 13, 2011

Location: Dover International Speedway

Starting Position: 16th

Finishing Position: 14th

Owner Points Position: 20th (gained 2 positions)

Dover, DE (5-14-11) – Jason White and his GunBroker.com team suffered from a handful of setbacks in this weekend’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event at Dover International Speedway. However, the rookie team overcame the odds of the “Monster Mile” to bring home a 14th-place finish in the Lucas Oil 200.

Starting 16th, White battled with an ill handling Chevrolet Silverado for most of the 200-lap event. The No. 23 GunBroker.com machine was scored one lap down to the race leader after just 50 laps. Fortunately for White and the team a caution fell while in the Lucky Dog position. Just when the team thought they caught their break, White had a left front tire go down, forcing him to make an unexpected pit stop for tires.

Running 24th, when a long green flag run brought the leaders down pit road for scheduled stops, White was able to stay out and when a caution flag was displayed at lap 156 for debris, the No. 23 machine was scored 6th. Crew chief, Chad Kendrick made the call for two tires and fuel and when racing resumed, White was scored as the leader.

A competitive run in the top-10 was spoiled with less than 20 to go when White experienced an engine sputter on a restart at lap 183, shuffling the No. 23 machine back 10 spots to 17th. A solid effort in the closing laps, despite a gasket failure on the GunBroker.com Chevrolet, allowed White to bring home a 14th-place finish, the third top-15 finish for Joe Denette Motorsports in 2011.

Quotes:

“We were way off when we unloaded this weekend. We struggled on Thursday in both practice sessions because the truck was bottoming out. We changed the set-up; went from a conventional to a coil bind set-up and made some majors changes before qualifying.”

“I felt like the truck was really dialed in for qualifying and picked up six tenths from final practice. We ended up 16th but it was a solid effort.”

“I was really loose during the race. On a scale of 1 to 10, it was a 10. We struggled most of the day and that tire going down was ultimately what helped us. I think we could have easily had a top-10 finish if the race had stayed green at the end and we didn’t have that part failure. It was unfortunate for this entire GunBroker.com team. But hey, it was fun leading a few laps and ultimately we gained a couple positions in the points.”

Notes:

• Jason White lead once for four laps.

• White is currently 18th in the 2011 driver point standings.

• In five starts, the Joe Denette Motorsports team has one top-10 and three top-15 finishes.

• White currently has an average starting position of 19.66 and an average finishing position of 20.33 in 2011.

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will make the seventh stop on the 2011 schedule at Charlotte Motor Speedway for the N.C. Education Lottery 200 on Friday, May 20. Jason White will make his fourth start at the 1.5-mile quad-oval.
