Roush Fenway Looks to Top Tricky Triangle

After a strong performance in Kansas, Roush Fenway’s Sprint Cup program heads to the 2.5-mile “Tricky Triangle” of Pocono Raceway, where the team will look for its fifth Sprint Cup Series win.

Sprint Cup Series at Pocono

Roush Fenway will make its 164th start this weekend at Pocono, where the company has led over 940 laps, while notching four wins, 42 top-five and 63 top-10 finishes. Roush Fenway has completed over 73,000 miles of Sprint Cup racing at Pocono; the second most of any track for Roush Fenway.

Winning Pocono Style

Roush Fenway has four wins at Pocono, including Greg Biffle’s victory there last July. Carl Edwards earned Roush Fenway’s first win at Pocono in the first Pocono race of 2005. Roush Fenway went on to sweep the Pocono events that season.

Going the Distance

Roush Fenway has covered 75,450 miles with 60 racing entries in Cup action at Pocono. It is the second most of any track for Roush Fenway. Only at Charlotte Motor Speedway has Roush Fenway covered more miles.

The Runner Up

Roush Fenway finished second 11 times at Pocono, before finally notching the win and sweeping both Pocono races in 2005. All-in-all Roush Fenway has 12 runner-up finishes at Pocono and 15 top-two finishes. Five different drivers have finished second for Roush Fenway at Pocono, and three (Carl Edwards – twice, Kurt Busch and Kurt Bush) have won there.

Last week…

While not the type of domination Roush Fenway has exhibited for much of the past month, the organization did place three cars inside the top 10 at Kansas and all four cars inside the top 13. Carl Edwards led the way with his seventh top-five finish of the season.

Carl Edwards continues to grow his Sprint Cup points lead, now leading second place by 40 points.

The Nationwide Series takes a weekend off, before returning to action at Michigan in two weeks…TNT takes over the broadcast of the Sprint Cup race for the first of its six races in 2010…Affliction Clothing will again serve as the primary sponsor on the No. 17 with Matt Kenseth this weekend.
