Michael Annett Kentucky News and Notes

Notes and Quotes:

Previous Race Recap: Leading the field to the checkers with his teammate, Steve Wallace, on his bumper, Michael Annett was the closest he’s ever been to experiencing Victory Lane in the Nationwide Series before being shuffled back to sixth in a mishap heading to the finish line at Daytona International Speedway last weekend. Disheartened that his Rusty Wallace Racing team didn’t capture the win, Annett’s sixth place finish did however qualify him for the next Nationwide Insurance Dash 4 Cash race which takes place on his home turf at Iowa Speedway next month. The Des Moines, Iowa native will be competing with Jason Leffler, Justin Allgaier and Reed Sorenson for Nationwide Insurance’s $100,000 Dash 4 Cash bonus on August 6 at the .75 mile Newton, Iowa track designed by Annett’s team owner, Rusty Wall ace.

Annett on qualifying for the second Nationwide Dash 4 Cash race:

“I’m really excited about being one of the four drivers to qualify for the second Dash 4 Cash payout, and what makes it even better is that I’ll be competing for the $100,000 bonus on my home track, Iowa Speedway. Nationwide Insurance does a great job making this series and series regulars like me stand out, and being able to be a part of their Dash 4 Cash program at my favorite track on the circuit is something I’m really looking forward to.”

Knack for the Kentucky Track: In Annett’s first ever race at Kentucky Speedway in 2008, the young driver started fourth, finished ninth and led 31 laps of the ARCA Racing Series Drive Smart! Buckle Up Kentucky 150. In the Truck Series in 2008, he scored a second place finish at Kentucky, his career best finish in the Camping World Truck Series. Annett earned a seventh place finish after securing a fourth place starting position in his first Nationwide Series event at the 1.5 mile oval in 2009. Friday’s Feed the Children 300 will be the Rusty Wallace Racing driver’s third Nationwide Series start at Kentucky Speedway.

Annett on Returning to Kentucky Speedway:

“I’m looking forward to getting back to Kentucky this weekend. Both Road America and Daytona were great momentum builders for our No. 62 team, so another strong race this weekend will be great to keep that momentum going. I really enjoy racing at Kentucky and have had some success there, so I’m excited to get to the track this week.”
