The Home Depot Team Notes of Interest

. Joey Logano and The Home Depot Team return to Pocono Raceway for the second race at the 2.5-mile track this season. The June event at the Pennsylvania track was a solid race for The Home Depot Team. After a disappointing qualifying effort of 19th, the team worked hard throughout the 200-lap race to improve the handling of the No. 20 Home Depot Toyota. The effort showed dividends for the team and Logano with an 11th-place finish, their best finish in five starts at the track.

. Logano currently sits 19th in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver point standings following his 25th-place finish at Indianapolis Motor Speedway last weekend. He remains inside the top 20, just seven points out of 18th behind Mark Martin and 22 points out of the top 15. Logano and The Home Depot Team still have a shot at the Chase for the Sprint Cup if they can remain in the top 20 in the standings and get a victory in the next six races.

. Logano will once again test Road Atlanta this week with the assistance of Max Papis. Papis tested with Logano in a two-seater prior to the race at Infineon Raceway at Road Atlanta. Logano credited Papis with much of his success at Infineon Raceway which included his second career Sprint Cup Series pole and his first top-10 effort at a road course.

. This week on Twitter: The crew chief of the No. 20 Home Depot Toyota joined Twitter this week as Greg Zipadelli now uses the handle @GZipadelli. He said what? Logano sent out a message on Twitter Wednesday morning that read, “Why is there someone else’s socks in my shoes I leave at the gym?”

. About the last weekend: The Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway saw varying strategies play out at the end of the 160-lap event. The Home Depot Team worked hard throughout the race on the handling of the No. 20 Toyota Camry and had Logano running in the top 10. Ultimately fuel mileage was the deciding factor of the race and Logano and the team crossed the finish line in the 25th position.

. Zipadelli and the No. 20 Home Depot Team are bringing chassis #319 this weekend to Pocono Raceway. This is another new chassis for the No. 20 Team. The back-up chassis is #303 that Logano tested on the Thursday of Kentucky and most recently ran at Michigan International Speedway in June.

. Welcome aboard The Home Depot associates from store #563 in Irving, Texas. The store number will ride along with Logano this weekend in Pocono.

Logano Quotes:

On Pocono

“One of the crazy things about Pocono is that it’s really cool on restarts. You can gain 10 spots or lose 10 spots in one lap. It’s four or five wide when the flag drops and you have to funnel it down in the turns. With three different turns like that, it can get tricky. Now that we’re shifting again, that adds a little bit extra to the racing and the driving. In my eyes, it makes it more fun. When you have those long green flag runs and we get spread out, you can keep yourself entertained by shifting or changing stuff up and trying to find different things to find speed. It’s pretty cool.”
